My son had his first and last Twinkie ever tonight.

He wanted to try one at Mrs W picked up a box. At first he loved it and then almost immediately got sick to his stomach. This is a kid that refuses to eat at McDonald's because he watched videos of how the food was made (including the pink slime). He tried it, got sick and then after reading the ingredients has sworn off Twinkies too. Best $3 my wife ever spent.

I recently tried a Twinkie for the first time in perhaps 20 or 30 years. Did they always taste stale and nasty?

I think if you took grandma's homemade strawberry shortcake and listed the ingredients in legally-required form, it might look a bit scary.

The main differences would probably be the preservatives. Not that those are good things -- just kind of necessary for packaged long shelf-life products.

I lol'd at the Jack pic...

Pick up some asparagus....

Not for Jack though because he's a carnivore....

I fucking love Twinkies! I don't care what's in 'em; I love 'em. Hostess Cupcakes too--both the chocolate and the vanilla ones with the orange frosting. Oh, and the little Crumb Cakes and Donette Gems. Ding-Dings and Ho-Hos too.

Then you must have tried the pumpkin spice Twinkies last month.

They taste much better than they sound, but that still might be in the nasty category for some.

I like most Hostess products. Of course I was raised in an age where you got maybe on or two a year instead of every day.

I used to like the crumb donette gems until they started re-producing them after the shut-down. I think they lost the recipe for the good ones and replaced it with a recipe in which all the crumb donettes come out of the factory soggy and greasy. I don't eat them any more.

Vanilla Zingers? Oh, yeah! Good stuff and healthy too!
