Let's find out who has owned a guitar the longest...

Couch'd Tater...
Howie's 10 year PRS thread got me wondering who on the forum has owned a guitar the longest...

The rules are simple...you must have owned the guitar continuously and it must have been in your possession for the duration...(I happen to own a Martin Sigma DM28 acoustic I got in 1982 but ut's been with my nephew for a number of years, so it doesn't count)

Here's my entry...

You've all seen it...it's a 1989 Washburn WP50...I bought it new in the spring of '89, meaning I've owned it for 26 years...

What you got?

Martin D28 Standard. Purchased in 1985.

My 83 Carvin dont count according to the rules because I loaned it out to a good friend for about 10 years.
I got it back about 5 years ago when he passed away.

I have a strat plus I got new in the early 90s. Probably 93. Got hosed in a trade at GC but I do love that strat. Obviously I don't win but it's the only guitar (so far) I swore to never get rid of.

Bought this LP brand new in 1986 and still have it. The receipt is still in the case compartment!

The old HCGF guys used to call it the strangest Les Paul incaptivity. It's a 1985 Studio Deluxe, pretty rare actually.

My first MIJ Contemporary Telecaster has never left my posession since I bought it new off of the wall at Guitar Trader in 1985. It is the one guitar that has gone with me wherever I have gone over the years. It's been all over the country and all over the world.

Hopefully this Summer, I can finally get the finish work completed and reassemble it. It was so close to being finished and then I got sidetracked with band thing.

It kills me to see that case in my closet with the body and neck in it next to a box of parts including that System One Bridge I completely rebuilt and the still unopened set of RailHammers that are going in it.

Edit: here's the guitar... http://markweinguitarlessons.com/forums/index.php?threads/50384/

I got this one on one of three dates.
When I was born in 1966. Technically it was dad's.
When dad died in 1984 or
When I rebuilt it in 2008.
Take your pick.

It's been in the family since it was new in 1946 but 2008 is when it came to be with me full time and in one piece.

My Fender F-15 Acoustic. I got it for xmas in 1979 I think (might have been 1980 there were a lot of drugs back then :P) and I still have and play it regularly.

You'd think having a guitar for 35ish years would make me a good player

Sadly no

I think this guitar should win this contest.
And probably a lot of future contests.......

So full of win.
Thanks.

Since I re-set the neck, it plays pretty good. It needs frets, though.
But, with the solid spruce top, it's a barking mofo. It can put out some dB.
