Pups these days are Asian built burstbucker variants that are stamped epiphone and have alnico II magnets. They're okay if you like classic output covered pickups.

She ended up going with the custom because she really liked it in GC when she played one there, and likes the sound and feel, but ordered from Sweetwater, and also picked up the 100 level katana. Sweetwater seems to be giving her good service and allegedly did a thorough check of the guitar and a set up. She receives it today.

Good choice on the katana 100. Effects loop would make a world of difference.

Cool. Because I have never used an effects loop nor this amp, would you tell me how you would suggest to use that feature? So I can try to help her out if she gets started?

I have the katana 50 without it. I found that I loved the amp sounds, but the only thing I could do was adjust the intensity of the revenge or delay (or tap) without a computer hooked up to it. I missed having outboard ambient effects.

Cool. I am sending her three of my first ever pedals I still have laying around for her to try. A distortion and overdrive that stack decently, (Boss DS-1, Digitech Bad Monkey), and my old Boss CE-5 chorus, and she can use reverb or delay on the amp for ambiance. And then use those pedals to figure out what she likes, and how to twiddle the controls in the modeling interface, to experiment ands see what she likes.

Yep.
As a newbie guitarist, she likes Marty Schwartz on YouTube, and he sold her on the 100 thereby. She also likes @Mark Wein 's practical beginner series and has used that after I gave her homework. Starting with the ergonomics ones, and time keeping, emphasizing how important it was for me to relearn that once I found this place. Maybe someday she will go ahead and join too.

Oh, and Sweetwater weighed the Epic LP Custom they are sending her, and it is 9.2 lbs. So heavy, and we discussed that. But she plays seated for now and knows she can get another one if she starts playing out standing up.
Thats almost as heavy as mine (9.6lbs). Mine is a 2004 LP Standard but I would have thought that they were making them (especially the Epi's) lighter at this point.

When the LP Modern was brought up, I went over to Sweetwater and looked a bunch of Epi LPs for the heck of it. The weights can really vary up to a pound between the same model & finish in a few cases.

I had encouraged her to purchase the one she was able to play in the Guitar Center store which she said felt good to her and sounded good to her, as they can vary. I don't know the weight though. But that one sold so she ordered from Sweetwater instead. she had been on the road toward purchasing a Les Paul in the $2000 range and I tried to point out that she could spend a lot less than that just starting out. she went and ordered on her own, but she has no problem sending something back if it isn't right for her. I got an instant message that sounds like she is unboxing right now.

Well she did the unboxing and played it and verified that it feels really good to her, and it is lively loud and responsive un-amplified. She is going to a local guitar store to get a good basic cable so she can plug it in and make sure the amp works, So everything looks good so far.

Yall are really falling down on the job...
Those EPI LPs are fine - except the very cheapest ones. Not my choice, but if someone put one in my hands I wouldn't feel like I need a bath or anything...
