I certainly can't argue with someone's impressions of him.

I didn't think much of him when all I knew of him was that he was host of Fear Factor but as time passed, I just kept finding out about different things that he was involved in from his excellent commentary of MMA and finding out that he was a high level fighter who even showed some top guys how to perform certain techniques, to seeing him contribute to intelligent discourse on many topics just had me gaining appreciation for him more and more.
