True. But then that's a lot of money to buy the panels. My budget is really limited. I can put time and work into it, but not a lot of money. Still, I really was tempted by that Bronco. I will always have a sentimental weakness for them and I WILL own one again someday.

Id be willing to bet that first one has hidden issues for that price. Still, it's a chevy 350, and, well.....it's a Chevy 350. What more can one say? If I couldnt find parts for that, and keep it running, I have no business touching a wrench. It's kind of a corny car, but I admit I love it.

My only concern is being a bit disappointed in the performance. I drove a late 90's Trans Am once. Talk about SCARY fast. I know that Camaro wouldnt be THAT quick, but I'd really hope it would come close. Realistically, they werent all that amazingly fast, and I know that, but way back in my brain I DO expect it to haul ass. I'm sure I would be at least a little disappointed.

Still, it would be fun, and I think they look dead sexy.
 
Yeah, i think that was a great body style. My cousin used to autocross a IROC 350, the thing hauled ass.

Yeah? That's cool. The early 80s ones were kinda dogs from what I know, even the 350s. Good to know not all of them are.
 
I went to high school with a guy who, soon after we graduated, bought a new camaro (I'm thinking it was around 93 or 94) with an LT1 engine in it.

That car scared the SHIT out of me.
 
My first car was a 65 Mustang convertible. If i was going to get an old car to tinker with it would be one of those.
 
I'm still seeing a couple Broncos up here with snowblades, driving around, waiting for it to snow.
When the new Camaro, made near here, comes out, they'll be blade-worthy.
Yeah, it's that time of year again to watch out for ice road truckers.
They're taking up too much room in the donut shop parking lot, waiting for the rivers to freeze.

'65 Mustangs are nice, but the '69 fastback is my fave. I only had a '72 Mach 1 with a 351.
It featured a four by four under the trunk, to keep the rear flex supports from poking through.
Yeah! Unibody construction! Just like an f-hole on one side of a solid-body guitar.

I'd be partial to a MOPAR, obviously.

John, the Duster didn't come out 'til early 70s, but that'd be something to be looking at - or a Dart of just about any vintage.
If you don't acre about 4-door vs 2-door, the Darts can be pretty cheap as a 4-door.

Slant 6 engines are tanks. Fun, and pretty good on fuel. If you can find a Super 6 intake setup, you can juice things up a bit.
318 V8 is pretty good in terms of fuel economy and if you ever wanted to go radical in terms of power, there was a build story in one of the car mags a few years ago that was insane - a little in terms of comparing the build to starting with a different engine and spending the same amount of money - but it proved it could be done. AND, there's all kinds of ways to shoe horn a big block V8 in there. :)

and John, the new Camaro is out already...
 
How about taking that $1500 and buying a scooter. Something from Honda/Yamaha/Suzuki instead of a Chinese bike.

I mean, if you're looking at RWD coupes with leaky tops, I have to think you're mainly looking for fair weather transportation. Plus, in addition to being cheap to buy, a scooter sips gas whereas a sports car wouldn't. Minimal garage space, and anything on 2 wheels is automatically fun.

If you'd feel like a tool on a scooter, get a motocycle.

I really like small, old Japanese bikes. I haven't had one since I sold my RD350 a few years ago, but recently I've gotten a hankering for something I could tool around on and run some errands, possibly commute. I was thinking scooter, but with an old enduro I could even ride some trails. If that's not fun, I don't know what is.
 
I miss having a dirtbike.

My first bike was a 1986 Suzuki DR100. I went from that to a 1986 Kawasaki KDX200. Neither was street legal.

I'd love to have a street legal enduro bike now, though.

but have a much better chance of pulling of something like an old Suzuki or Yamaha Enduro. I could throw a few hundred bucks at something like this, but a few thousand would be a tough sell.
