Seriously. You guys here really do represent the best the Internet has to offer in guitarists and musicians.

I got invited to a faecbuk group called Axe-a-Holics. Now the guy that invited me is an old HCEG guy and definitely Weiner quality. However, most of the rest of the group leaves me wondering how they survive daily life.

I try to be nice (being that I'm inherently an asshole that's difficult) but most of my comments tend to be an explanation or why somebody has no idea what they're talking about.

For instance, I just had to tell somebody that an EH Electric Mistress isn't a type of BMP.

So, thank you, guys, for giving me SOME faith in our kind.

Seriously, I have to echo the OP. I have popped in at Banjo Hangout lately, and a lot of the posts are nasty and personal. They also have a no politics/religion rule, but there are many there who always push the boundaries. The threads get locked, but the perps remain and just create havoc on the next thread. So glad I am no longer a moderator there.

Nope. I was a moderator at Banjo Hangout for a number of years. The job really sucked at times. The conservatives thought I was a liberal and the liberals thought I was a conservative. I took that to mean I was being fair, but they didn't see it that way. :rolleyes:

It's not even that. Like somebody will post that they have no clue what a guitar is, asking for ID help, what model, where it's made, etc., and then post a picture of a guitar where all the information they need is in decals on the headstock.

Or somebody will ask for a recommendation for a bluesy overdrive and somebody will recommend a Metal Muff or, worse, a Phase 90, AND THEY'RE NOT TROLLING. They're just dumb.

I never really thought about it... but I bet a good chunk of the banjo players are deep-south-lovin' "suthern folk"... and another big chunk are hippies. whoa... :embarrassed:

Did any of those groups happen to be related to the Hatfields and the McCoys?

Actually there seems to be a lot of banjo in the more hipster pop/folk bands coming out now (Lumineers, etc)
