I like this Gibson

I just saw this on MF. Looks interesting. There is also an SG model.

I like the idea. I played a gig with a friend last month who has an actual 1953 Les Paul that had been refinished and an early DiMarzio humbucker put in the bridge at some point in the early 1970's. With the p90 in the neck position the instrument sounded awesome. Something I'd like to try in the future.

:(

I'm not one to get nutty about a finish if the guitar sounds good but if its the kind of thing I'm thinking of I don't' really care for them...

When the faded SGs came out, I went and gave them a go. I liked those finishes better than the ones on the standard. I prefer a raw neck (neither of my guitars have finished necks) and I really hate the way the finish feels on the Gibson necks. The faded ones were closer to a raw neck. I'll wait until the local GC has them in and give one a go.

If it works for you then go for it., I'm one of the few people I know that prefers the glossy neck on my standard and would have gotten my Suhrs like that if they offered it.

okay... this does look interesting in that the standard gold top is now a gold-looking stain, some woodgrain showing through.
Soapbars are just okay too, but a couple of big P.A.F.'s would transform this guitar.
I'd drill side holes in the neck at fret positions, and leave the holes empty, squeezing fruit candies into them.
That way when I'm playing with my teeth and licking the strings, I can taste my way around the neck.

That explains why you haven't really dug MM guitars. Those raw necks are the reason I love them.

Like:
Small guard on the SGs
P90s
Ebony & white finishes
Price isn't bad

Dislike
Unbound necks (yeah, I know...specials don't have bound necks)
seasick natural finish

I like it for a Gibson. P-90s always= winner in my book. Id like it better in black/ goldtop or some other color. I hate guitars that look like furniture.
