Yeah, the gold knobs are a bit of a head scratcher since the hardware is all chrome. I'm sure they will get changed out soon enough. I'm going to play it as is for a while before buying any replacement hardware just to see how the stock stuff does. For as much as I hate them... this guitar is nearly screaming for a Bigsby!
But that won't happen.
The tuners are supposedly Grovers, they actually feel really nice. I've got a spare switch to drop in which I'll do over the weekend. Not sure yet how to "seal" the dent to keep it from becoming a huge chip.

So I've spent a few days with this guitar now, and it's time to pass judgement.
I can't fargin believe that so much instrument can be produced for so little cost. This thing IS a Les Paul. The build quality is legit. The fit and finish (besides the dent that was likely from some random GC looky loo) is fantastic. The frets are perfect, the neck is amazing, the pick ups and electronics are way, way above the price range with so many tonal variations available thanks to the push/pull coil taps. It can rock like any LP and then quack like a Strat. It plays fantastic and just sounds awesome. I am loving this guitar.
The ONE thing I will likely replace immediately is the nut. It's not "bad", but typically entry level. Big Gilmour bends expose its its shortcomings. Beyond that, I couldn't be happier and this WILL get plenty of gig work.

I haven't tried them yet. I was going to throw a set on this guitar, but after playing it quite a bit and determining it definitely needs a better nut, I'm going to wait until I change it out to put them on. Pretty much all of my regular players have fresh strings at the moment, so I'm in no rush. Plus, I'd imagine making the switch will necessitate some intonation adjustments etc. I've got a new nut coming for it tomorrow, so we'll see how they play after the swap out.

One month anniversary/update.
I can't stop playing this thing. It is just soooo sweet. After ordering a new nut and initially thinking I'd need to replace the hardware, I've been quite pleasantly surprised to discover neither are necessary. After taking the strings off to fit the new nut I saw the problem immediately... some left over shavings trapped in a couple of grooves. I cleaned it up and re-strung it with the Balanced Tension D'Adarrio strings, adjusted the bridge height a bit, and it was perfect. A closer inspection of the hardware revealed what certainly appears to be some pretty high quality stuff. The bridge is fantastic and the tuners are legit Grovers. I see no need to "upgrade" anything. The new strings are the business! Wow! I love the feel and playability so much that I'm thinking all my guitars will eventually make the switch. Anyway, this is a fantastic guitar.
