Great music
Saw them on when they first came to NA opening for Men at Work. No one at the concert knew who they were and almost no one cared since they wanted to see M@W. IMO they blew M@W off the stage, they were amazing.

Also another great song IMO on Kick is Mediate and Mystify :thu:

They were freaking awesome. Hands down the best live show I’ve ever seen. They headlined the last HFStival I went to and were fantastic.

During that era it didn’t matter whatever else kind of music you were into, it was hard to not like that album because all the tunes were so catchy/melodic/relatable/danceable and the videos were in constant rotation on MTV. It all came together perfectly for INXS on that album, it’s definitely a great one…for me being in college during that time it’s pretty nostalgic.

They were a great band and also they lived life in excess some might say.....plus.......

INXS is a great example of why teh 80's was the best decade for music. It was kind of a downward slide from there. Sure there is great muzak from every era but there is a je nais sai quois to that decade. A lot had to do with the production and recording techniques, there is the sound and some say it's no good but they are so wrong.....

I hated that album with a passion. Still can’t listen to it without cringing.

When I met my wife, I had just moved back to Illinois from Texas and was living with my parents. She had just moved back from New York and was living with her parents.

Her room- every horizontal surface was covered with candles. Every wall was covered with Michael Hutchence posters.

It’s also kinda crazy to me that the band was around for 10 years or so before this album came out. I guess they had some minor success during that time but nothing much.
And then one day they all just decided to write an album packed to the gills with smash hits.

They had some pretty good success with Shabooh Shoobah years before Kick, the movie Reckless also gave it some decent exposure. I still have the 45’s/LP.

I didn’t care for them at the time, but I’ve come to appreciate them over the years.

I guess it depends where you were. What You Need, This Time, Don’t Change, Listen Like Thieves, Original Sin, and The One Thing were all on heavy rotation on WHFS in DC.
