I guess the thing that bugs me most over there right now is the apparent disdain the owners have for their writers. They're acting like a bunch of dictators over there and to hell with what the users want. That's hard to take.
EG
The only way to fix it is to leave.
The people who have stayed are only strengthening the case to keep Jive. Bitching and moaning in hundreds of threads will do nothing. They will say "Oh, we can fix that" when it's obvious that they don't understand why it was a problem in the first place. Eventually the bitching and moaning will stop and the site will limp along. If over half of the users leave, it hits them in the wallet. HC is part of a business and that business wants to make money. If the site is deserted, the ads will not generate revenue, the advertisers walk, and HC/MF/GC lose money. They will have to make a change to what the users want in order to restore their revenue stream.
They have to do it soon though. By admitting defeat they will let their users know that they do care about them and the users will respond to that. The place would probably draw in more people by showing that they respond to what their customers want.
The only way to save HC is to leave HC.
Don't hang out there. PM your friends there and tell them to leave also. If the traffic keeps dropping like it has, they will have no choice but to listen. Money talks and they will hear it.You said it man, I'm trying to hang on over there, its the first guitar place that ever felt like home :( ... But, currently it's on life support and they don't seem to care much ...

I miss the place too but I'm convinced that leaving is the only hope that HC has.
).We've all lost friends along the way.
It happens.
HC does NOT care about what we have to say. That much is obvious.
It is amazing that the people still posting there are the types that want to hear themselves and not hear anyone else.
It is sad, really.
I expect they have lost 70% of their traffic. And possible more!
Might I add.....this place and the folks here have been nothing short of GREAT.
Most of you I recognize from over there, but not all.
Very welcoming forum here.
Really, I think I may have found a new home anyway, so reason to go back to HC.

As a business owner myself I always try to hit a poorly performing vendor or even just a place my family does business with that has terrible service in the place I know it hurts me...by not spending my money with them, so I can see what you're saying but I almost feel like it won't matter to the powers-that-be over there until it's too late.
They'll never roll back to the old site, but hopefully they will make the new one what the end users want...and hopefully not too late that they lose too much of their core membership that made HC what it was, and the reason why we all hung out there on a daily basis. I almost feel like folks need to keep the pressure on them to make the changes before the whole place loses it's steam and the membership gets dispersed to the other millions of music forums that are available to them online (like this one).
Not sure if I'm making my point or just confusing myself this morning, but I think if you want change I'd continue to post in the "New Forum Feedback" forums and not the on topic ones....

Agreed.
They need to sack up and make a call right now.
People have left in droves and they only have a short time to get them back.
They won't go back to what they had but they can keep Jive for the main HC site. It can do the job for that but they have to dump the Jive forum. It's not usable. They can go with the latest vB platform and simply link it to the main site. Everybody wins.
I'm stoked that so many of you guys have joined here, even if for many of you its temporary shelter in a storm. I love the energy and on-topic content you've all brought, too and I really hope you guys decide to stay with us![]()

i want to stay permanently...
i'm not always on topic but this place is full of great people, and i love the video lessons

The saddest thing is that the busiest forum over there now is the "Feedback Forum" which is really just full of people bitching. The guitar forums are quieter than ever. The combo of the font and the color scheme makes it a chore to read. How hard is it to edit a few lines in the CSS??
) that allow you to change each components color or other parameter. This is what the default look of this site is:http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/
ok guys bad news.. i guess...
i'll just give it to you straight... if this forum was still an active thriving community it would be different... but this place is completely dead, the ui is completely worthless, the more i dig it appart the more i am just in awe of how ass backwards it is... it's not even the Jive softwares fault it was just never intended to be used like this and honestly the response from HC about it is just lame excuses. They invested in this thing and they are gonna ride it out into oblivion an stay in denial about "making the necessary decision". so anyways long story short im calling it quits with this project and this forum for the time being... anyone who wants to pick up where I left off then by all means do and hit me up with questions anytime... but for now i'll be at the gear page and mark's place. see you all around. I'll be popping in and out on occasion but i wont be a regular here anymore... for the sole reason that there just isnt enough going on to warrant more than an occasional pass through and 75% of the content is just people bitching about the new site and anderton getting his panties all in a bunch while regugitating what teh IT people who are covering their asses are telling him.
my best to you all...
