have you ever been banned from a forum

I got banned from a DVD forum for letting my cat post. Apparently, some people felt that comments like "hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhwww888888888888888888888888888888hhhhheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" added nothing to the conversation.

I've been banned from a gun forum. They don't take too kindly to opposing viewpoints.

I got pretty close to getting banned at other gun forums too, but I just walked away. Those miserable fuckers can wallow amongst themselves.

UG. One temp, and a perma.

The temp came for totally stupid reasons... I can't remember the third, but the first two were "Posting in the Show Off Your Guitar thread without a picture in your post" (WTF?!?!), and conspiring to spam an outside website (I was joking). Three things make a temp-ban, and I can't really remember the third.

The perma came from "bumping a porn thread". This guy tried to porn-bomb us, but his link broke, so I just put "". There were hardly any replies to the thread at that time. However, what do I see when my message is posted? A mod, deliriumbassist, posted up "ANYONE WHO POSTS IN THIS THREAD AGAIN WILL BE BANNED". A; that's pretty fucking excessive, and B; why not just lock the thread, idiot?

I pleaded that I didn't see his post when I was writing my message, and that his was posted a split second before mine so I could never have seen it, but he wasn't having any of it, so I just asked to be perma'd. The mods on UG are some of the worst, corrupt, power-hungry mods ever on the internet... I went to HC shortly after, and thought it was heaven compared to that place. On UG, the mods are these "high-ups" that never seem to post in the forums... they seem very suspicious... rarely joining any discussion. While HC is a mess now, I did like the mods there. They were friendly, cool people, who posted normally just like everyone else.

I got my own back, though. Later, the day I got banned on UG, pr0n bomb ahoy! It was closed pretty much right away, but not before somebody posted "oh dear lord!". That made my day

Thats retarded. I've never spent very much time over there but it just seemed to be a place for obnoxious kids to post about metal bands.

I was banned from a car forum for having the temerity to do some graphics work for a 'rival' forum. Anoraks (on any subject) tend to be petty by nature so give them modpwerz and they will go quite mental with power.

Got banned from TGP this weekend. On one of the bugera shitstorm threads over there I called a few corksniffers corksniffers and am now banneded. :thu:

We actually have a "Snorkledick" smiley overhere: :sd:

I got banned from The Gear Page for poasting an intentionally crappy clip of my playing and singing after they instituted the no criticism policy.

:embarrassed:

Never - Not for lack of trying either.

Nope. The closest I ever came, was on a warning from a mod in a ham radio forum's general (ham and non-ham radio) topic section, for mentioning religion. That was a big no-no. I'm not very religious, but somebody made a political comment that mixed some religion with it. Why I posted a reply, in retrospect, I don't know. The OP got banned. I got a warning. That was a year or two ago. I don't like trolling, so why would I troll? Also, why would I want to butt heads, and cause a ruckus? I got involved in a ruckus that I unintentionally started 4 or 5 years ago, on a ham radio mailing list. It got so bad, that I started getting nasty e-mails. I even completely retracted my statements, stating in essence, that I was bowing to the will of the people (list subscribers). The ruckus still continued. I got so fed up, that I quit the list. It wasn't worth it, after all it was just an internet mailing list. Not my life.

In turn I was banned for voicing my opinion on how great said song was.

I don't think I knew that. Fantastic, and thanks for your support!

I looked for that song this morning on my webspace and on my hard drive. Seems it has been deleted for all eternity. :(

I registered as "Toan Swami" there just to comment on your song and face the inevitable banhammer. :embarrassed:

I think the reason for the ban was "Cross-post, much?"

I've never been banned. I think I may have gotten a warning at ibreathemusic for suggesting that Rusty Cooley was not as cool as The Darkness, but that was a long time ago.

I've never been banned anywhere but the owner of TDPRI asked me to stop posting there unless I paid them, so I banned myself..

I can understand TDPRI's policy and I don't see anything wrong with it.

I can think of a few posters on HC that only seem to come around to sig spam or show off their latest build.

I have been banned from 3 things in life. One forum, one Call of Duty Clan and one shopping centre.

The forum, it was a fundamentalist christian forum and we got into an argument about whether it was right to idolize celebrities in a wholly Monotheistic country such as the states. The Clan, I said the word Nazi and the leader was like half-german and he went "I am deeply offended my you remarks involving the word Nazi on the in-game text. Consider this your only warning and goodbye message. I do not expect to hear from you in the future." Srsly!

Now the funny one, the shopping centre. I was in Norwich on a School day out because our class was the best and we won and we went to the cinema, the bowling alley and then the shopping centre. All went well until one of my mates chucked a penny and half a sandwich off of the 3rd floor and the security guards were "OMFGWTFBBQ? You could have hurt someone!" and banned me and 4 mates from there for 6 months. Not like they ever enforced it :embarrassed:

The same could be said of me. I think I was annoyed mostly because I had posted there for a year and a half and then I get an email saying "Don't think you're going to get away with this without paying us". By that point I had posted probably 50-60 lessons there that while they were pointing back at my site were actually giving free music instruction to their membership.....

Ultimately, just like here whoever owns the forum makes the rules and I respect that. I just wasn't a fan of how I was approached about the subject.
