I've only been banned from one forum and it was HC. For anybody who was around at the time, it was the infamous thread where Batotman was permabanned! Both he and I made a jokes about about committing violence against a girl that had stolen a guitar. It was obvious that we were not serious. But, later the OP posted the actual name and address of the girl! :eek: So, the the stakes were raised and whole thing became a big liability issue for the moderators. The official reason for us being bant was "advocating violence." I was temporarily banned because I'd never had a single issue with the moderators up to that point. Batotman had received numerous warnings and temporary ban hammers from the moderators over the years, so his exile was permanent.

I was a little bitter after my ban because nothing was explained to me. I've seen numerous people get into heated arguments and threaten violence without getting banned on HC. In my case, it was an obvious joke. I was left to piece together the specific circumstances that made the situation unique. I guess they felt they didn't owe me an explanation, but it sure would have helped my understanding at the time.

Needless to say, I don't make jokes about violence on any forums these days. It's like "bomb" on a plane...I won't even go there as a joke. I'll only infer a subtle innuendo regarding violence. :thu:

I was banned on HC three times... after that I learned to stay the fuck out of the amp forum. :embarrassed:
 
I've never been banned anywhere but the owner of TDPRI asked me to stop posting there unless I paid them, so I banned myself..

They didn't like that I was posting my lessons which had links back to my site, which had advertising on it. I have the email at work still..maybe I'll post it tomorrow :)

Believe it or not, I'm actually a Moderator at a forum where I have been for over 7 years and have never been banned there. I have also only wielded the Banhammer for something other than the usual porn bomber stuff twice in that time. I'm much nicer than you guys think I am :wink:
 
Never been banned from a forum. The closest I came was when I said some girl looked like Dave Mustaine and somebody (a woman, of course) decided to take it way out of context and proportion :lol:
 
I was once bant at HC. It was accidently, during the Great Maps War when many good men fell. I´m a modest person in real life. :embarrassed:
 
UG. One temp, and a perma.

The temp came for totally stupid reasons... I can't remember the third, but the first two were "Posting in the Show Off Your Guitar thread without a picture in your post" (WTF?!?!), and conspiring to spam an outside website (I was joking). Three things make a temp-ban, and I can't really remember the third.

The perma came from "bumping a porn thread". This guy tried to porn-bomb us, but his link broke, so I just put ":lol:". There were hardly any replies to the thread at that time. However, what do I see when my message is posted? A mod, deliriumbassist, posted up "ANYONE WHO POSTS IN THIS THREAD AGAIN WILL BE BANNED". A; that's pretty fucking excessive, and B; why not just lock the thread, idiot?

I pleaded that I didn't see his post when I was writing my message, and that his was posted a split second before mine so I could never have seen it, but he wasn't having any of it, so I just asked to be perma'd. The mods on UG are some of the worst, corrupt, power-hungry mods ever on the internet... I went to HC shortly after, and thought it was heaven compared to that place. On UG, the mods are these "high-ups" that never seem to post in the forums... they seem very suspicious... rarely joining any discussion. While HC is a mess now, I did like the mods there. They were friendly, cool people, who posted normally just like everyone else.

I got my own back, though. Later, the day I got banned on UG, pr0n bomb ahoy! It was closed pretty much right away, but not before somebody posted "oh dear lord!". That made my day :grin:
 
I was banned from a car forum for having the temerity to do some graphics work for a 'rival' forum. Anoraks (on any subject) tend to be petty by nature so give them modpwerz and they will go quite mental with power.
 
Got banned from TGP this weekend. On one of the bugera shitstorm threads over there I called a few corksniffers corksniffers and am now banneded. :thu:
 
I got banned from The Gear Page for poasting an intentionally crappy clip of my playing and singing after they instituted the no criticism policy.
 
I've gotten dozens of temp bans and even a few accounts permabanned over at the MILF forum. I also got banned from a gardening forum for inquiring about how best to keep my bush trimmed. :messedup:
