Harley rant . . .

We live in a small mountain town. Harley riders love to come through on their way to some nice touring roads. Pretty cool. and they do nice things like "Toy Runs" for sick kids. But, . . . some of their damn exhausts should be illegal! (and I think are in many places). It is nice that you enjoy your 2000 pound vibrator, but I don't want to ride it with you. Or hear it quite so loudly thank you very much. Ok, rant over.

Now get off my lawn old Harley dude!

I agree with this thread.

We have Laconia Bike Week every summer and the closest main road is one of the ways to get there.

NOTHING more annoying than hearing some Lawyer-Bike's exhaust from 3.5 miles away.

Fucking clowns.

STFU. Nobody thinks you're cool, except you.

They like to get all dressed up in their bad-ass chaps and leather jackets, hop on their chromed-out $40K motorcycles and act like fucking tools.

A few die every year because a.) they aren't very good riders, and b. ) they like to wear bandanas instead of helmets, you know....because bandanas make them look cool and shit.

Then they have a few, and ride off the road into a pole or fall off a cliff or something. It's a shame, but it happens every single year.

They congregate at the local eateries and gas stations where they like to hang out and admire each other's chromed out penis extensions, causing traffic jams for everyone else.

Fucking hate Bike Week.

I would rather hear the roar of thunder from a group of Harleys than the buzz of a swarm of ricers. I live right along a highway that is famous for motorcycling in the bay area, and deal with packs of motorcycles every weekend. I prefer the sounds of Billy Badass to Rickey Racer. YMMV. The racers tend to be followed by the sounds of the fire department responding to an injury accident. Seriously, 3-4 times each weekend day, some asshat stuffs himself into the side of the mountain if he's lucky, and the front end of a car if he isn't.

My road, every day it isn't raining

You live on 84 or 9?

I'm not a fan of loud motorcycle exhausts. They are annoying and I don't get why they are legal. Import sport bike or hog, both suck. I lived in NH near Laconia bike week for years. It was basically a week of awful noise.

I don't rally care about noise related to sanctioned motorsport events (like a car race at a track). They have a set schedule and are usually limited to a fairly short period of time.

You don't get it really over here (I'm assuming because it's illegal due to it being really stupid) but I love when you see the guys sporting the german helmet type things - you'll look slick with your hair all in place but your face melted if you come off that thing

I don't have a problem with loud bikes or cars as much as the guys that need to get the ego stroke of constantly blipping the throttle when they are just sitting there, stopped....Or need everyone else to notice them and behave like prats

Have to admit though that setting off car alarms as you ride by is kinda funny

Not much i can disagree with here. it's obnoxious as fuck when they're all congregated at a gas station or other stop that you're trying to access. it's usually a case of let's all play dress up and go vroom vroom vroom and pretend we're 1% ers. lame!

Devil's Advocate: Loud pipes are necessary not to sound cool, but so that other motorists are aware of where cyclists are.

i agree with OP. they''re too damn loud. i get the 'harley manley bad ass 1%er wannabe" deal, but they've become so loud that they can't hear a cop or ambulance or firetruck coming from behind them or at a cross street until they get hit by the emergency vehicle when the biker doesn't stop.

open headers are NOT allowed on cars.....drag pipes should NOT be allowed on street bikes.

until the pipes are so loud that the biker can't hear cops or ambulances....which how loud they are around here.
