Question: guys that drink...lemme ask ya

Just being able to drink as much as you did on a slow day without puking or passing out is kind of alarming. I have a cousin who is probably a little older than you (judging from your pictures) and he probably puts away that much a day plus some more. He has now been hospitalized a few times in the last year with drinking related issues. I'm sad to say I don't expect him to be with us much longer at the rate he is going. He went to rehab after his last hospital stay and is now back to drinking at the same rate.

I wish you the best of luck and hope you can get a handle on the drinking. I would hate for you to suffer any long term issues or worse die from the alcohol.

fwiw, I'm mid/late 40's

been living like this, off and on, since I was 13

You are a little older than my cousin. He started in his early teens also. At this point in his life his family has very little to do with him and he is no longer allowed to see his kids. We have him over every once in a while just so he can hang out and feel "normal" as he puts it for a while.

You have a lot of people here to support you and if you ever need someone to talk to let me know. I may be an asshole but I'm a good listener.

I've taken care of quite a few people in liver failure, and trust me when I say it ain't no fun road to travel. Drinking that much alcohol on a daily basis will destroy your liver. It's not a question of "if" it's a question of when.

Totally not trying to be a dick, I just don't wanna see you in that place. Liver failing, ammonia level off the charts affecting your brain to the point where they have to rule out dementia/alzheimers, and you sitting in your own diarrhea because you don't have the mental faculties to know any better.

I got a fifth of Woodford for Christmas and just finished it off last week. I guess I don't qualify as a drinker.

You need to slow down, Peek. That shit will kill you in those quantities.
Maybe take up knitting?

john bonham drank 40 shots (1.4 liters) of 80 proof vodka the day he died.

thats almost 50 ounces....your 26 is a mere pittance, son.
its kind of cute you think its a lot though :sim:

Yeah that's too much for a quiet night. I dont think I even drink that much on a big night out.

The most I've had recently that I remember is a mini keg of beer (probably about 6 pints?), a few ciders, half a pint of whisky and god knows how many jagerbombs/shots in town and I was absolutely wasted - first time I've been refused entry anywhere :embarrassed: I certainly wouldn't want to do that on a regular basis, I felt like absolute death for a few days after :(

It's been said by a lot of others

No one gets out of life alive but you do have some control over how you go should you wish to exercise it. I'm not going to tell you how to live your life so long as you aren't hurting anyone I don't much care but seems that maybe if you think about what your lady said maybe it is

Geezus.

Watching my best friend go through getting divorced, losing visitation with his kid, and generally having his whole world pulled out from under him right now, and all because of booze.

Not to mention his health, which is awful.
