For your guitar sound, do you like it wet or dry?

Almost sounds like buying a burrito here in SoCal.

Anyway, do you like the wet guitar sound or the dry?

In my past, I always ran a wet sound and used the effects loop in my rack to achieve it. Around 2005 I went to a dry sound and it took me awhile to get used it but now it is hard to use a wet sound unless I need a certain effect. I am currently bringing back the wet sound once again but more to assist in acquiring a different ambiance when needed.

Generally a little wet. Moist, really.

I like just a touch of verb on my crunchy rhythm sounds, then add a dash of delay for solos.
So I'll vote for moist as well.

I’m often tempted to buy a Strymon Deco so I can completely lose the dry sound and make everything sound like it came from an analog tape delay.

I like ambiance in the background, but I hate too wet of a signal because then you can't hear the pick attack and note separation. I really love the way Mesa does their effects loops in parallel instead of series so you can do a 70/30 or 80/20 mix.

I don't play wet that much. I like it when I'm playing to backing track pretending I'm Joe Satriani. Otherwise I prefer to using one amp with speakers on both sides (left and right) of me.

Most forumites use distortion either built into the amp which is - to me - not an effect and other who use pedals such as myself. I do consider an OD/Distortion box an effect pedal but not a wet sound.

Amp distortion is definitely an effect. Especially since they've been built to distort ever since guitar players found out they like distortion.

I look at it differently. Put a hotter signal from a guitar into an old amp and you will send it into Saturation and/or Cutoff - Distortion.

Which it's designed to do, because guitarists think clean is boring. You sell more amps that way.
