Ever went to set up at a gig and another band's stuff is set up?

Can only remember the one occasion. Turned out it was the venue's fault, but as it was a new venue we were trying to get into we had to turn around and go home without any pay. As that was an hour or so drive each way, I wasn't chuffed.

Funny as this just happened tonight....

I get a call from the guy who booked the gig for his band letting me know not to come down tonight. For some reason, somebody called on Thursday saying they represented that band and cancelled the gig. My friend who runs the band and booked the gig and can't figure it out as he would have been the only one to cancel the gig. As for me, I was about 3 miles from home when I found out.
Have you dick punched anybody?

Something possibly worse happened to my band at one point. We got to our favorite gig spot. Found out it had been sold...we were still to play...but...there was a wall knocked out now adjoining the hip-hop club next door. We were inaudible most of the night and the new meth-head manager said he "lost" the envelope to pay us. Our drummer ended up open hand slapping him so hard he dropped to the ground...and we left with some new mics cop0

Well, did you figure out who canceled the gig?

The guy who booked the gig couldn't figure it out. As I told him, this happened to my Tom Petty tribute as well. I feel that the owner did it because it has happened twice where I am the only common denominator.

Other thoughts were another band with a similar name to my friends band called thinking it was them. They too played on the same night but at a different location. My friends band is called Sideways Down, the other band called Sideways.
