Damn kids...

Yeah I figure I m not the only one. In a way, I look forward to the kids getting older so things like making sure we're dressed afterwards in case of a nightmare, accident, etc are history.

you'd like to think so, wouldn't you?

i walked in on my parents once or twice as a kid. but apparently sex becomes an even bigger problem in the house as kids get older. especially as they get to that age where they want to have it themselves but you don't want them to have it, especially under your roof. so in order be a good example, you tend to stay just as private, if not more, than when the kids were little.

the first time i brought my wife (then girlfriend) to my parents' house for a weekend, they made us sleep in separate rooms. Her parents did the same when she brought me there. in fact, it wasn't until we were engaged 3 years later that either side really let up on the idea. and it's not like we were kids either. i was over 31 and she was 25.

LOL I grew up a little differently I suppose. I would not want my children to be active before my marriage, and I do subscribe to the "my roof, my rules" philosophy, but I also recognize that this is a choice they will have to make for themselves ultimately. My thing is, I feel that, to be brutally honest, a passionate intimacy is one of the healthiest things for a Godly marriage, so I wouldnt feel like we were setting a bad example if they were aware that their mother and I were going at it all the time. Do I want them to see or hear us? No, but the knowledge isnt a negative in my book. Now obviously I wouldnt let them have guys over and sleep in the same room. My parents did, actually, my GF would spend the night when we were still teenagers and they actually didnt care. But they also knew we were pretty mature and werent going to get ourselves in a bad situation. Believe it or not, I did not have (shield your kids ears) vaginal intercourse with her till we were married. Obviously, as evidenced by my careful semantics, we screwed around a lot, but we were pretty responsible even then as horny kids.

Do I want my girls doing the same? No. Would I let my daughters bring a guy home and sleep in the same room? No. But I suppose my attitude is a little more lax in some areas, I mean, it all depends on the individual situation, but I just dont have an issue with my kids knowing (once they're older) that mom and dad enjoy each other. A lot. Now, I just hope that IS the case when the kids are older. Cause right now it just isnt happenin :embarrassed:

My mom was fine with sleepovers starting the Christmas after I returned from my first semester of university. But I was having sex at home starting at 14.

My wife's parents put us in separate bedrooms until we were married. And we never had sex under their roof, either, actually, until after we were married. If we wanted to fuck, we'd take the car.

"Some place very uncomfortable."

"What, like the back of a Volkswagen?"

that is funny. The first time my parents met my wife (then girlfriend) was when we were home for the summer after a semester at college. My wife had stayed over and on her way out in the morning, she met my mom in the kitchen.

That's basically our take. We always realized that there was a possibility that this day would come, but what's taken us aback is that, at her age, she actually had questions about the mechanics, etc., of the act. And we didn't have much for that except to say "it's probably best that you learn about that kind of stuff when you're older, but basically, it's how grown-ups who are in love and who trust each other make each other feel good." I don't know. WTF, right?

That is as good of a response as you can probably have with a four year old. I never walked in on my parents, or if I did I blacked out that part of the memory. Since we have teenagers in the house and they simply cannot get the 'knock on Mom & Dad's door first' thing down we use the lock quite a bit - even if I am just changing clothes. We only have one shower in the house and it is in the master bedroom so they are in our room quite a bit. Our 17 year old walked in about a month ago to take a shower - didn't knock - and got to see Mrs D buck naked in the bathroom putting on makeup. :faceplam:

Shit, as a teenager, I used to bring my girlfriend over to my bedroom all the time, which was at the opposite end of the house as my mom's bedroom... I don't think either of my parents ever talked to me about sex, and my mom never said a word to me, even hearing us in the shower... I sure as hell wouldn't let my teenage son bring home a teenage girl... Actually, I wouldn't let my teenage son do most of what my mom allowed, but by the time I was a teenager, she was a single working mother, and I was running the streets...

I never walked in on my parents, that I can recall, at least...

While that never happened to me, it reminds me of a story about my son. He was never a naive kid, and pretty much knew what was going on around him. So I was surprised one day when, at 16, he said "My cousin told me Aunt Grace is a lesbian. Is that true?" I told him that, yes, it was true. He then said, "I always wondered why she and Ginnie on had one bed."

It just makes me feel good that someday in the future your sweet child will employ someone in my profession to deal with the issues stemming from this ordeal (quickly dons flameproof suit).
