If I had the time and space I would probably rescue old cars and trucks from the wrecker...even just to store them for someone to restore in the future...

i am a classic car buff too...i think the perfect house would have a 10 car garage!

Beautiful truck! I think I've seen you post that over at the fret...thats probably my favorite era of Ford trucks ;D
I think its great that you've kept it all these years and that it is as stock looking as it is...

thanks...if my son plays his cards right he'll get it one day (he's only 11 though)
i tried to keep it as stock appearing as possible even though it has a 302 v-8, power steering and brakes (front disc) and auto tranny....even kept the stock steering column, steering wheel and used the stock shifter (originally 3 on the tree) with no markings for the auto trans...

yup! at least thats what the GPS was saying! and its ROCK solid at that speed got some work to do to it clean it up a bit prob. paint it flat black have to raise it up a bit! but not bad for a worn out olds 307!!! think ill just run the engine till i kill it throw a 350 in there and it will be done! oh and you cant tell by that pic (I will post more SOON) but there are NO front brakes not as in the front brakes dont work there are NO FRONT BRAKES!!! like a go-cart on the HWY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow....that would scare the crap out of me...my father in law was a GM mechanic ( mostly Oldsmobile and Cadillac) in the 60's and 70's and and hes always spoken highly of the Olds engines from that era...
You'll have to post pictures when you are done with it. What kind of transmission?

that 26t looks like a sweet project...definitely post more pics!
i took my 54 ford f100 truck up to 100mph once....it is not aerodynamic (understatement) and it was not very stable
that front end was grabing air and it was starting to "float" around....scary....it runs and handles great at 70 though!

100!!!! My c10 is comfy around 65-70 but thats it....I don't even think it would approach 80.... ;D
Here is my Dad's 70 Blazer. Completely stock. We lived in Alaska at the time, he bought it at a dealer in Seattle in '70 and drove it back up.
250 Straight Six, Three on the tree. No power anything, but tons of torque, and great off road. Came in handy during Alaskan winters.

I like that you can take the top off...I really dig pretty much everything up to that era from Chevy in trucks...after that they lose their appeal to me...

I have owned a few classics over the years. Prolly the coolest one was a 70 Buick GS 455. Fast as hell. I dont have a good computer pic of it, i'll see if i can scan one from home one of these days.
I dont know if you are familiar with them, based on the Skylark (which was the Chevelle platform) and had a kickass 455 cubic inch motor, Turbo 400 tranny. Had the ram air hood.
Got maybe 8 miles to the gallon though. But seriously hauled ass. Unfortunately it went away after the birth of my first kid. :'(

Pretty cool....I'm starting to learn that other parts of GM made some awesome cars during that period, too...
My father-in-law worked for a number of GM dealerships (mostly Caddilac and Oldsmobile) in the 1960's and 1970s and I've been getting quite an education talking to him about cars and trucks and when we need to work on my truck nothing we do isn't anything he didn't do a thousand times before....
