Help! Baritone Jam

How low do you tune?
I'm not too experienced with tuning low, but it seems Gibson and Fender scale lengths can handle B standard (proper setup and thicker strings are recommended).

A friend of mine has a PRS baritone that he really likes (SE277 IIRC).

Thumbs up on the PRS; also, didya look at the PRS SE Holcomb? Has a 25.5 scale (maybe a bit too short ?), but strung heavier and tuned to drop C from the factory (I'm sure could go lower). I had one for a bit that I got cheap, but for me at the time, it was more of a novelty; however, has some solid specs.

The pickups in the trem versions have kind of a crispy single-coil boinginess happening. The hard tail versions have a higher gain type modern pickup. Those are kind of neutral—but the tone and bass cut give you a fair amount of control over the EQ. I like the sound of the lower gain ones in the trem versions pretty well. He more RAWWWRRR ones didn’t really sound awesome to me, but I’m not that kind of player and rarely am trying to manage maximum gain.

B to B

I tuned my LP special to C#. It’s useable but like playing on wet spaghetti. I’m going to talk to the local luthier about what would be needed to get it to a useable B.

still thinking about this buckethead knock off but I’m more than a little concerned about the seller/manufacturer, 10S Guitars.

I can't argue with feel, if it doesn't feel right for then it doesn't matter that it "works".

A few week ago I tuned my SG down to C#, just for the heck of it (as I have the RG with standard tuning). It had flatwound 12's on it for over a year (in standard) and the last time it was set up by a pro was for 10-52's. It feels fine, buy I do play my Ibanez most of the time these days.

I was really confused when you said 25.5” scale… I thought they were baritones. After double checking, the 6 string is 25.5” and the 7 string (same finish and hardware) has a 26.5” scale.
