I'm weak... I bought one...
I hope so. I'm thinking of finishing it with Minwax stain and finish in one. They have a black one. Depends on how nice the grain is, though.Cool… that’ll make for an interesting thread.
Now if the grain is nice and the front looks good I'll have to think of other options.awesome!
Something pointy?I still gotta make up my mind as to which kit I'm gonna get![]()
I say do the Iceman.I'm leaning to either a Tele (which fills a hole in my gear), or another 5str bass, which would allow me to keep one at home, and one in the city for the band. that way I wouldn't have to lug one on the Greyhound for gig times.
that's the logical thing to do.
however...my heart kinda really wants either a Gibson-style V or an Iceman
or one of those coffin'shaped, Floyd-equipped deals...

if you want the grain to show through use a black grain filler then put the stain and top coat on.I hope so. I'm thinking of finishing it with Minwax stain and finish in one. They have a black one. Depends on how nice the grain is, though.

Well, like I said, it all depends on what the grain actually looks like. Most likely the multi-piece body won't be bookmatched too well, so the the Minwax stain and poly in one will give glimpses of grain, that unfinished feel that I like, and cover up any weird glue lines without involving myself with a full-on paint job.if you want the grain to show through us a black grain filler then put the stain and top coat on.
I think what pushed me over the edge as far as actually getting this kit is that most kits have the gimped bass-side point, which rounds out the bottom of the body. It just looks... wrong. This is pretty close, even if not perfect. I wanted to grab one before they disappeared.Pretty cool! I like that it is a set neck kit!
I have been having the urge to build something, I may look into the in the near future.
