Any great SMALL high gain combos?

that sucks. send it back to Dave?

the Tube Zone definitely won't do the TS-9 thing. but it does have great low gain tones that stack well with others. and its the only high gain pedal i've played that really sounds authentic. pedals like the Metal Zone and Metal Muff sound thin and tinny in comparison. at the same time, the Z-Vex Box of Metal only does metal. its a great trick, but not always a usable one.

the Stonebender is a completely different animal. another one that plays well with all kinds of guitars and can sound really open, or sound horribly compressed and fuzzed out, in a Dave Davies kinda way.

I need to see if there is anything actually wrong with it or if I'm just a retard. I've had zero time to do anything but cram cover songs, clean and repair the house and change diapers.

I've found most of those really high gain pedals to be pretty unusable in regular gig situations...the Tube Zone just sounded to me like it could get the crazy sounds but have some well defined low end onstage instead of muchsy fuzz. The Zvex pedals didn't strike me as being that useful.

The stonebender clips I heard I dug, but I would go more for the Clapton/Page/Hendrix meld the fuzz with the amp thing...I'm not a fan of the over the top fuzz deal....

the Tube Zone is a well designed pedal. the others i mentioned are total crap (save the ZVEX, which again is just a one trick pony). here's a more comprehensive demo:

the Stonebender sounds like Zeppelin and Jeff Beck.

I know, everyone says that, but why? I wont be joining another band, and if I hold onto it it is for purely sentimental reasons.

I'm probably in the other camp. I say sell it and get something you will use. Plus, maybe you can get an amp and have something left for a guitar or pedal or recording gear or something. Or just a good used amp.

Sentiment is understandable but I'm not a fan of having stuff sitting in the corner not being used.

How much, and/or do I have something you're looking for as trade or partial trade? Plus, if you ever want it back, I'll sell it back to you for the same.

What about a 5150 (or 6505) combo?? Not terribly small, but smaller than the half stack, and lower wattage, if I remember correctly...

50 watts, 2x12. They sound different though. Maybe the 6505 doesnt, I never read anyhting about it, but the original 5150 combo sounds different than the stand alone head.
