Tucson has the most aggressive drivers in the country

https://www.travelandleisure.com/most-aggressive-holiday-drivers-us-tucson-arizona-gasbuddy-8414046

GasBuddy examined 8,149,863 drives in the top 50 metropolitan areas by population using the data, noting all events of fast acceleration, hard braking, and speeding during the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend.

According to the findings, everyone needs to chill out just a little over the holidays. GasBuddy revealed that "U.S. drivers are up to 48 percent more aggressive on the roads during the holiday season." However, it also showed that those driving through Tucson are the most aggressive of all.

Tucson was followed by Nashville in second place, with two Floridian cities, Orlando and Jacksonville, in third and fourth place, respectively. Rounding out the top 10 are New Orleans; Richmond, Virginia; Salt Lake City; Buffalo, New York; Memphis, Tennessee; and Oklahoma City.

As for who is getting exactly what they wished for this season, the city with the least aggressive drivers is Minneapolis. Other cities in the top 10 nicest included Providence, Rhode Island, in second, followed by Portland, Oregon; Seattle; Cleveland; Norfolk, Virginia; Hartford, Connecticut; Las Vegas; Rochester, New York; and Columbus, Ohio.

well, they didn't come here.
red lights aren't even a suggestion here.
since covid, we've had 6 different people work from this office from other parts of ohio, michigan, minnesota, and a couple other offices, and the 100% consensus is that toledo drivers are the biggest assholes anyone has ever seen.

do people get shot there though? happens here all the time plus there's usually everyday either a pedestrian killed by a car or a motorcyclist.
I'm not taking this article as gospel though :embarrassed: I know everywhere is bad. I do think Tucson is somewhat unique though in that we literally do not have any expressway system. It's all in town driving and Tucson is according to google over 500 square miles so imagine trying to drive across town. We have 1-10 which skirts the south and west...on the east and north are mountain ranges

I am not surprised a couple of cities in Florida made the top 5. They are the worst drivers I have ever dealt with.

So, Tucson is basically like GTA online?
Yeah pretty much I try to drive as little as possible these days and luckily I only have to drive 1.3 miles to work. I forgot to add we have no public transit other than the bus and one light rail thing near the university that only runs about a 4 mile course so everybody drives and there’s lotsa Dodge charger, f 150/250, Ram truck and GMC….it’s bonkers on the road

I can't speak for Tucson, but Phoenix is pretty bad. I thought they were cutting me off and flipping the bird because I had California plates.

I would have to disagree. The worst drivers from all over come here to South Florida.
Ain't that the truth. Jacksonville and Orlando are tame compared to South Florida but Orlando is pretty damn bad.
I lived in Jacksonville for almost 20 years and still have family there. I don't recall it warranting a place that high in the bad driver category.

I've had to seriously recalibrate my sense of urgency when driving around here in small town The South. I'm so used to jumping off the line when a red light goes green so that the guy behind you doesn't honk at you after living in larger cities for the last 20 years that I have to remind myself that people poking along at the speed limit rather and slowly accelerating from a stop, etc is mostly the norm around here. My finely honed Big City Asshole impulses make it feel frustratingly slow often.

My little 12,000 population bedroom community town isn't too bad, its just getting more crowded. The larger metro areas are kinda similar, population outpacing infrastructure. Sht gets congested, esp at certain times of day, and people get frustrated. Total lack of public transport of course, its the south after all.
Myself I dont get paranoid until I get close to Atlanta. Thats where you gotta have a whole nother mindset behind the wheel.

Not being ageist (I'm not young myself), but is part of that due to the influx of senior drivers (full time and snow birds) since FL is still a major retirement destination? When I see bad driving here my 'out of the box' thing to say is 'Probably an old man in a hat', and I'm right more than I'm wrong.

Exactly. I resist the urge to return the favor.
Probably for the best I mean no need to have dick measuring contest which is what they want…. Plus AZ is gun happy, not that California isn’t but there’s some real nutcases here and staying alive and staying outa jail is good too

Richmond made the Top Ten?!? I can’t support that.

Richmond and Jax being ahead of NoVa completely makes this study invalid. I’ve lived in Jax and have spent a lot of time in Richmond and they aren’t on the same planet as the DC burbs. Maybe they are just doing cities proper and not the burbs.

I only lived there 3 years but my brother has been there almost 30. No way is it bad. Not even close to the worst in Florida.
