The Ibanez RG550XH solidbody electric guitar gives you 30 jumbo frets to shred with, and a deep gorge of a lower cutaway that provides access to all of them. Two pickups and 5-way switching deliver a broad palette of tone, from chimey cleans to ornery snarl, while an Edge-Zero II bridge serves up the vibe. As dictated by its plethora of notes, this axe sports rad visuals - the lower horn might even double as a sling blade if things get rough after a show. Trust us, you've never experienced a guitar quite like the Ibanez RG550XH.

I'm normally a fan of all things Ibanez, but this one has me scratching my head. What the hell do you do at the 30th fret? Humans can't hear that high. I suppose if you're doing shredding for dogs, then this is your guitar.

humans can definitely hear that high.

Just a thought - even if your fingers can't do much with the tiny fret gaps, they do very nicely lay out where the plucked harmonics are.

My biggest "meh" on it is the likelihood of breaking off that skinny lower horn.

I usually love the neck pickups... This has none... Well it kind a does but its no way going to be mellow....
Placement alone won't let it...even though I've not played one...and I could be wrong... But the mid pup is way closer to the thin sounding part of the string...

Now 30 frets would be cool.... maybe....

NOW if they came out with a higher string...above high E, and a lower string....or two...with pups in normal placement..... I'd be all 0ver that!

My acoustics have 12 or 14 frets free of the body, and somehow, strangely, I've managed to play actual music on them. Pretty weird, eh?

Don't like the lower horn/cutaway. Should just chop it off. As it is, it looks like it'd snap off the first time it takes any impact.
