2018 Formula One Thread

Hamilton on pole for the British GP. We'll see if Vettel can outdrag him to the first corner. Haas continue to impress as the best of the rest.

Great race! The battle between Raikonnen and Verstappen was epic. I was so happy when Kimi got around him since it was such a hard fight.

Hamilton was acting like a spoiled brat there at the end, and he really made an ass of himself blowing off the parc ferme interview.

Kimi might be long in the tooth and in the last bit of twilight to his F1 career, but he can still bring it with the very best when he has a car that's worthy. He's so wiley too... so much experience, he really is like the fabled "iceman" character from Top Gun. He just wears you down and waits for you to make a mistake. He took that kid to school yesterday and laid the wood.

Of all the "petulant, spoiled, whiney-ass bitch prima donnas" in F1, Hamilton sets the bar for douchiest of the douchie. Vettel has his moments of face punchable bitching, but he's minor league compared to Shamilton. Verstappen also needs an occasional slap, but he'll grow out of it.

Now Danni Kviyat?

Whole other level.

Bought my tickets for the German GP today. The track is only about 2.5 hours north of where I live.

So jealous. Are you going to try to go to Spa? It's not far from you either.

I can't go to Belgium this year, as I have a work trip at the same time. Next year I'll hit up Spa.

Wow, an actual exciting race! Great drive by Hamilton to come from last to 2nd.

It was an exciting race which helps make up for the snoozefest races a bit. Still shows a big problem with F1 though. There is such a huge gap between the top 3(?) teams and the rest of the field that baring a bunch of accidents/mechanicals no one else has even a chance at sniffing the podium. There can be great racing in the back and occasionally up front but something really needs to happen to make it more possible that a driver's skill is the major factor not having a car that is 20-30kpm faster. Until that happens F1 remains for me an interest but nothing I will go out of the way to watch which was not the case years ago

Got some passes from Mercedes for an event for the German GP. Got to stand next to an F1 car....like real close.

Short people in the family liked the noise. I’m the old, fat guy in the background. Not the really fat one in green, the other guy.

Not a bad race, but the heavy rain came too late! Once again, Bottas gets screwed. Hamilton was prancing around post race like he pulled off a miracle win. Without Bottas and team orders, he would have finished anywhere between 2nd and 4th. Dick.

It was a pretty good race. It's starting to look like 2017 all over again when Vettel threw it away with a stupid mistake, although in this case it may have been an unforced error since the track was wet. I expect Mercedes to put their boot to Ferrari's throat now.

Here are a couple of shots of the Porsche Super Cup race from the German GP weekend. Camera is still downloading the F1 shots. I put these in the photography thread already, so apologies to those who cruise both threads.

Well, that was a dull race. I fell asleep during a few parts in the middle. It got interesting at the end when Vettel and Raikonnen we're chasing down Bottas.

Yeah, pity Vettel didn't come out ahead of Bottas. He might have made Hamilton at least work for the win. Bottas' reaction to Toto Wolff calling him Hamilton's "wing man" was interesting.

Botox's reaction was genuinely dickish. Does he really believe he's an equal to a four time world champion? If he doesn't like his place on the team he can always do what Nico did. Kimi is available. On the positive side at least he's crashing into someone other than Hamilton when he gets passed.
