Check out this email I just got.

OK, this ticked me off enough I had to post it. In response to my Craigslist ad, somebody decided to send me this:

"I see.... so you want a 2500 dollar American guitar... for a 400 dollar beat up amp...LOL "

Im REALLY trying not to respond. If I could find a 5150 half stack for 400 bucks I'd buy it immediately.

You should take a picture of your ass, email it back and tell the guy...

OK, so this is my white American ass. I'd like you to kiss it.

biggrin

Yeah, I'm tempted to do something about that nasty. I dont know why, I should just be able to laugh about this but this has me steamed. Even if that WERE the case, why bother to write an email about it?

Because sometimes it feels good to NOT take the high road?

Get out some early frustration for the loss tonight?

I have this typed and I'm trying not to hit the send button :embarrassed:

"Im not sure which 400 dollar amp you're referring to...check ebay and try to find a 5150 head and cab in good condition, shipped, for less than 1000 dollars. And Im not sure where you saw "beat up" in my listing. If you have a 5150 for sale that actually works, for 400 bucks, I will buy it immediately.

As far as the guitar, Used SGs go for as little as 700. Used CE-22s sometimes sell for less than a grand SHIPPED. My offer is not unreasonable. We're all entitled to our opinions, though, even if they are sadly uninformed."

You forgot the "Go f*ck yourself" at the end.

:embarrassed:

I spend about an hour a night on craigslist.

it really does surprise me the number of flame posts I see on there.

"To the guy selling the $700.00 Rich Bich"

"$750 for a beat up reverend ? "

LOL, i mean, just to take the time to b!tch about something . . .

The only time I understood somebody flaming a seller on Craigslist was when some guy was asking like $1200 for a "limited edition" collegiate Epiphone he had. This was at the same time MF was blowing them out for like $89.00.

The only thing I have been able to sell on craigslist is junk. I listed some junky garage shelving and a guy came the next day. idn_smilie

I put some high end bicycle wheels or guitar stuff (not high end but decent) and all I get are stupid low ball or responses like the one you got. I was selling some really nice bicycle wheels once and a guy mistook them for a much cheaper model and made a similar comment. I responded similar to you ....................... but I think I actually did add douchbag at the end.
biggrin

Lately though it is either an offer at about 10% of the stated price or someone telling me they will take it and will be there in an hour and never show up. And every time they say they are coming, I have to get stuff ready to meet them on common ground. I have a firm rule about not bringing craigslist responders to my house.

I think I am done with craigslist. Not worth the hassle and I always sell fast on ebay. I have even sold bass boats on ebay. There are some things I dont like about it but it seems to work well for me.

I might get teh flamez for saying this, but the douchebaggery is inordinately high among those who would play and sell "shredder" type guitars.

I'm just sayin'. idn_smilie
