Check out this email I just got.

The only thing I have been able to sell on craigslist is junk. I listed some junky garage shelving and a guy came the next day. idn_smilie

I put some high end bicycle wheels or guitar stuff (not high end but decent) and all I get are stupid low ball or responses like the one you got. I was selling some really nice bicycle wheels once and a guy mistook them for a much cheaper model and made a similar comment. I responded similar to you ....................... but I think I actually did add douchbag at the end.
biggrin

Lately though it is either an offer at about 10% of the stated price or someone telling me they will take it and will be there in an hour and never show up. And every time they say they are coming, I have to get stuff ready to meet them on common ground. I have a firm rule about not bringing craigslist responders to my house.

I think I am done with craigslist. Not worth the hassle and I always sell fast on ebay. I have even sold bass boats on ebay. There are some things I dont like about it but it seems to work well for me.

I have recieved quite a few lowball offers and I expect I will continue to get them. Everyone is looking to get something for less than it is worth. Hey, I am doing the same thing, I'm looking to trade up, so I dont blame people for trying, but to send an email like this guy did is utter d-baggery. He's ignorant of what the amp is worth, and ignorant of what the guitars I am looking for are worth, and then has to try and insult someone for kicks.

My issue with ebay is shipping and then of course if you deal with someone that wants to make life difficult for you it gets even worse. I figure that by selling this locally I can get more for it, because the buyer doesnt need to pay shipping, and they can still get it for less. Plus, being able to play through the amp first IMO is an advantage.

I really think that eventually I'll get a decent trade on this. I've though about going to GC but I really doubt they will make me any offer that isnt completely insulting. I'm just going to keep listing it on CL. Im not desperate to get rid of it, so that's a big advantage for me.

I might get teh flamez for saying this, but the douchebaggery is inordinately high among those who would play and sell "shredder" type guitars.

I'm just sayin'. idn_smilie

Sometimes this is true, and teh mapz forum is an example. However, and I must thank Prages for convincing me of this, I dont think I'm hoping for anyhting unreasonable out of this deal.

I'd have traded my 5150 in a heartbeat for this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/2000-PRS-Paul-R...s=66:2|65:13|39:1|240:1318|301:1|293:1|294:50

if you have his email you should follow my remediation plan for flamers.

1.) sign up email address for every free-pr0n mailing list, mail order bride catalogues, and gay and lesbian message boards.

2.) purchase whatever he's selling with a fraudulent money order.

3.) post in his CList area for a local shitbagger to visit his house. Offer to pay via paypal.

ha ha

P.S. I just called guitar center...the CABS, not the head, mind you, but the CABS sell for 400. He was like, yeah, we'd give you probably 60 percent of that. So, my reasoning was 250 for the cab, 750 for the head, and I could walk into a FRIGGING GC and get that 250 no haggling, and they would sell the CAB from " a 400 dollar beat up amp" for ....drumroll, 400 bucks.

I agree and that is pretty much why I put it on CL. I had it out there for about a month and nothing was happening so I put it on ebay with a buy it now or best offer deal and sold it in a few days. I charged $50 for shipping. The guy did complain that he paid a lot for shipping and it took a long time to get there but he's the idiot who agreed to pay that much.

Shipping is a pain though. Especially with that big cab and the fact that you would need to send separate boxes.

As long as you are not in a hurry, you will eventually run into the deal you are looking for.

Exactly....the cab is huge, and they're both heavy. It would probably cost me a hundred bucks to ship it anywhere.
