Joe Pa to Retire

I was just announced Joepa will retire at the end of this season. Kinda of sad to see him leave under these circumstances.
 
I was hoping we wouldn't see a post about this, but...........since we're here..........

JoePa should retire TODAY.

That University, the football program, and this whole situation is a complete and utter disgrace.

Fuck JoePa and that whole university in its' face.


And that's all I've got to say about that.

It's sad that kids had to suffer

It's sad that people who knew better did not do the right thing

It's sad that no one turned this scum over to the cops

What a terrible end to a otherwise pretty stellar coaching career. This will stick to him for a long, long time.
 
I havent read enough credible stories on it yet but if the deal is that he knew, he should be fired today. Disgusting situation. I realize others did what they did but if a coaching icon isnt going to protect kids............................ well, shame on him.
 
I would imagine a big university like Penn State has all kinds of protocols for dealing with this kind of stuff. I would imagine that tell their employees to report things to the administration and let their public relation people deal with them in order to control the public relation aspect. So reporting the matter to the school president was probably the procedure that the school employees are told to follow. I think the blame is on them more the the coach. They were more worried about their reputation than the kids.


On a side note, who witness a kid getting raped and doesn't beat the dog shit out of the guy on the spot? Had I witnessed that they would have had to scrap that guy off of the locker room floor.

I don't have any feelings for Paterno one way or the other. The current mess there is just horrifying, and hopefully the right people will get the right punishment for trying to sweep it under the rug.

...although it does make you wonder how often these things occur and are successfully hushed up.

Yeah, and it is almost impossible to ever get the truth of what really happened from the media. Which is why I always try to add a disclaimer to my comments. If it is true that he knew and all he did was tell the AD, that's not good enough. There are many things we dont know and we may never know. Just saying if it is as simple as that, he needed to do more without question. Which is why I cant help but think there is more to it than we know. He has always been a stand up guy so we probably shouldnt doubt so easily.

And yes, the grad assistant should have ended the entire thing on the spot. No way you walk away from that happening.
 
I don't know all the details, but I do know this. in 1998 the district attorney in the Penn State area chose not to prosecute Sandusky for sexual abuse on kids. To me, this says that the Penn State officials went to the authorities. That DA went missing later, his car was found in a lake. So I am a little puzzled by all of this. If the DA chose not to prosecute this, why is Paterno being force out now?

What a complete fuckin' deplorable shitbag of a human being he is. There is NO WAY he didn't know Sandusky was raping kids. He should at the very least be facing a laundry list of felony charges himself.

Disgusting how his "supporters" are so willing to stand by him. I guess college football (Even for the rabid fans who didn't even attend the school) is more important than the innocence of helpless children.

Guess the media has presented you with enough facts to come to that conclusion. I'm not as quick to jump to such harsh judgment I suppose.

What? He never said he didn't know. Did you read the story? He was informed of the incident. Removed the guy from his duties with the team and reported him to his athletic director per university policy. The only thing he didn't t do was call the cops himself. What exactly should he be charged with? He and the graduate assistant that witnessed it went to the boys parents and informed them. What else should be do? Are you saying every employer is responsible for every action of their employees? I can only go on media reports but I'm not seeing anything out of line with his actions.

Um... "JoePa" freely admits that he was not only aware, but that he should have acted on his knowledge. Not sure how that has anything to do with the media, but whatever. It doesn't take too much deductive reasoning to come to the conclusion that the "program" was put before the safety of these kids.

I've been following this story from the beginning. Your interpretation of who knew what, when, and what was done about it is dramatically different from what my understanding is.
