Just to clarify, I don't think of myself as being anything other than just your average Joe. I partially "went there" once, but I only said enough to let one particular idiot know that I would be making an effort to humiliate him if he failed to capitulate, and I immediately regretted doing it.

I have gone to great lengths to separate who I am from what I do. I don't think having worked in literature, music, or films makes anyone any more or less important than anyone else. It's just work. I like being able to fly completely under the radar. Sometimes one of my kids will mention something about what I do or who comes around the house when they are at school, and the next thing you know, I'm getting flooded with bullshit. Everything from people asking for ridiculous favors, to wanting to tell the whole world about it. I have no desire for notoriety what so ever.

The less people know, the better. I only talk about a few of the things I'm involved in here, because that cat got let out of the bag a long time ago and I know a lot of you guys enjoy hearing about it. I don't ever want to be considered a "Name Dropper". I hope you guys don't feel that way.

One needs only to be a taxpayer to "be somebody" when it comes to government or public employees.

Not to hijack this thread, but this is a true story:
State of PA. My father (who was a transplant to PA) took my little sister for her driver's permit test when she was 15. Guy failed her, belittled her and made her cry in the DMV. My father spoke to him, and ended up saying "Well, we'll just see about that." Wrote a letter to the governor, the mayor, the head of the DMV, etc...etc...etc...
10 days later, a state trooper in full dress pulled up in front of my parents' house. The same guy from the DMV was in the BACK SEAT of the car.
He apologized and the trooper gave my sister a PERMANANT license for the state of PA. All she had to do was show up and get her picture taken. No test, no money, no nothing.
You all have to go every couple of years and get your picture re-taken, re-take the test, pay the $$$ for renewal, etc...to get your license.
Not my sister. PERMANANT license. Never expires.

It pays to bitch sometimes, especially when you are right.
You have to stand up for what you believe in.

I suggest doing your licesne renewal in the Downingtown DMV.....lol.

Well, she's 35 or so at this point, so if she's made it this long, she's probably gonna be OK, she's got a bunch of kids of her own now....that is a true story, btw!

I think that is what the original arguement was about.....guy said she didn't know how to drive....my dad said "Sure she doesn't, she's 15 and doesn't have a permit. How's she supposed to learn how to drive if she doesn't have a permit?"
Then the guy said something smart.
Mistake.
My sister cried. My dad looked at the guy's badge #, got his name and it kind of went from there......

I guess my point is/was:

You gotta stand up for what you think is right. You could be a somebody, or a nobody, but if you are right and especially if you are a voter and a taxpayer, you can make your opinion heard when it comes to this kind of crap.

How hard would it have been for the AP to say "hello sir, I am [insert name here] the AP. Is there something I can do to help you?" Then she should have taken the time to listen to your problem. Why is it so hard for people to just be considerate and treat people they way they would like to be treated? That lady has no business being an AP if she can't do that. She should go work for the DMV :embarrassed:

No thanks...I went to Tunkhannock. I've had licenses in PA, DE, DC, and PA again...it's never fun. I'm not a fan of anyone -- public servant or otherwise -- belittling or terrorizing people they're supposed to be helping. No excuse for that crap.

There are quite a few marginal teachers who go into educational administration exclusively for the money. The fact that it offers abundant opportunities to power-trip is a bonus.

Now, there are some really dedicated educational administrators out there who genuinely care, but I suspect they burn out as fast as the dedicated, caring teachers do.
