The Baseball Thread.....

Real sports are back!

Since the NL East squabbling between supporters of poorly assembled Mets and the 'should-be-great-if-they-don't-break-down-due-to-age' Phillies has begun in another thread, I figured we should start a thread where the official sniping can be done.

Here we can make fun of the Padres - though they could be quite good this year. And make fun of the Mets - mainly 'cause Howie likes them.

The Rockies should have a really good season - but they are already running into starting pitching issues on the back end of the rotation so the offense better click early and often if they want to avoid yet another crappy early season.

Plus we can all make fun of the Yankees here early and often AND discuss the 103rd year of futility for the Cubs.

Or we can discuss futbol and make Dexter happy.....

lol.

the Mets are terrible. they've drafted ok, but their star contracts are jokes and ownership could be indicted in the Madoff scandal. this year is a total wash. they should play .500 ball and finish 4th again. hopefully, they'll have new ownership in 2012 and a significantly lower payroll. then they can focus on the draft, which the new Front Office will start to do this year if they're not hamstrung by all the negative financial press.

Pads had great pitching last year, but no bats. And now, without Adrian, less bats. So unless some of the new faces step up in a magical way, it don't look good.

This all reminds me I need to go catch some spring training workouts before they get out of here.

Phillies offense is on the decline and with Werth gone to the Nats and Utley out for god knows how long the bats might be as painful as last year. Everybody knows we added Lee to our rotation so pitching is of no concern, but our bullpen still has some major holes. All of that said, we're still heavy favorites for another division title, just don't know how far we can go with this year's squad.

So they are Werthless?

No kidding.....and the Nats vastly overpaid for the right to still be worthless.

He'll no doubt add some pop, good defense and hustle, but he's not exactly a guy you build a team around. We'll see how it works out for them... he made out like a bandit in that deal.

Don't forget that we have no idea what Rollins' bat is going to be like this year.....Brown is about the only valuable trade bait the team has but who want's to try and unload him to shore up the infield w/ utley's question mark status.

Nah, I'd keep Brown and use somebody in house like Valdez until Utley can come back. Rollins has been a question mark for the last few years in terms of health and production, what concerns me more is the total lack of right-handed hitting. Out lineup is too lefty heavy to consistently contend with left-handed pitching.

Cubs 162-0 this year.

You heard it here first.

I can't focus on baseball until March Madness is over and considering the Cubs usually play like shit in April I be spending most of my sports watching time viewing the Hawks attempt to repeat as champs.
