Personally I’m pissed because my most comfortable guitar shirts are all Fender shirts… but I don’t feel like pulling them out of the closet anymore
Yeah, it's an interesting situation. People on TGP are getting ready to unload their Fenders for similar reasons. My one Fender isn't leaving my possession, and has special handling in my will. So it's not getting sold to spite my face.
At the same time, I also realize my self-hypocrisy and if I boycott Fender, while also giving money to corporations (Amazon, Apple) that are arguably worse companies. I also think Fender going after people who refer to a used, non-Fender guitar as Stratocaster on their website is legit.
I'm finding myself largely meh about this. The issues I have with Fender, and not buying one, are more due to the overall quality of the Fenders I've tried. Well, that and financial. It is a little tiring all the reaction videos at this point. I've had to just mute entire channels that had it coming anyway.
I'd like to get a maple-neck guitar, and may well end up with a Silver Sky if I go that route. However the used Custom24 SE I tried out had some massive fret issues and a funky pickup selector. The GC tech did me a solid when I handed it to him to look at the pickup issue before I got it. He then looked at the fretboard and showed where there were a ton of high frets. That said, it was used to who knows what happened to it.
Which also reminds me I need to get a tool to check fret levels when I got shopping.
