Achtung! Post unpopular music opinions that you have

Well, yeah. They're meant to be more evocative than explicit, and Elton and Bernie clearly seem to love the sound of certain words, how certain syllables and sounds are strung together, etc. I have no problem with it at all. It's a strength.
The problem is that it encourages others to do the same. Without the same level of success.

Pretty much describes 50% of music out there. Some lyrics are meant to tell a story, others function more as another instrument. Only the best balance them both.

I prefer Stone Temple Pilots to Pearl Jam.

I think you're not understanding the meaning of "unpopular". There would be no popular or unpopular music opinions on what "you" prefer. It's not a topic that comes up in Rolling Stone or Mojo reader polls.

George Harrison wrote less than 10 great songs.

Bob Dylan is a great singer (already mentioned I know).

There is nothing interesting or musical about metal guitar instrumentalists.

If you're playing the blues with impeccable technique, you're misunderstanding the whole genre. Learn to pick leads with your thumb like old guys in New Orleans. But you and I don't have a massive thumb like those men who worked hard labor most of their lives.

Blues lyrics are mostly about sex, not bad times.

Leonard Cohen doesn't understand the role of meter and rhythm in lyrics. You can't just squeeze all those syllables in just because you have a profound thought.

Pearl Jam only put out two albums worth listening to, the first two.

Motown was the secret ingredient to Led Zeppelin's music that's missing from all hard rock and metal that followed.

Robert DeLeo is one of the best rock bassists along side John Paul Jones and Sir Paul.

Ringo was a genius drummer that's never been rivaled since.

Most indie bands that are said to have a Joy Division influence are really influence by The Cure.

The 00s were the most innovative musical decade since the 70s

neil young can neither sing nor play. it's all noise.

yeah, I don't really think you believe this. I bet there's at least one Young song you've sung along to, either from his Buffalo Springfield days or Harvest era. If not I send my condolences.

I feel like most of Side Two of Abbey Road is throwing a bunch of unfinished song ideas together to put out a last album. Hearing the Esher demos of Mr. Mustard and Polythene Pam just confirms this for me.

Donovan is an under-rated musical genius, and the Sunshine Superman album proves this. Also the Sunshine Superman album is better that Sgt. Pepper.

Metal instrumentals are not popular. So don't worry about that one.

Most people stopped after the first two Pearl Jam albums, if not just Ten. An unpopular opinion would be that Ten is actually really tiresome and sounds too much like Creed in retrospect. And that Vs. and Vitalogy are at least weird enough to be semi-interesting albums.

I actually hear this about Robert Deleo. But it's like when folks say Flea is a genius. Or Les Claypool. I don't think so, but even if I did it doesn't matter because the band he is in is not very good.
