In 1984 I seem to recall buying REM - Reckoning, Al Di Meola - Scenario (1983), Metallica - Ride The Lightning, U2 - The Unforgettable Fire, Echo & The Bunnymen - Ocean Rain, Husker Du - Zen Arcade, Van Halen -1984, Yngwie Malmsteen - Rising Force. I think I purchased Deep Purple - Perfect Strangers, the following year.
From that group of 9 albums above, I'll go with Van Halen & Deep Purple. I do still like the song, "Now Your Ships Are Burned," from Rising Force. It has a groove to it.
Yeah, if I had made the grid of covers (I stole it from a FB group) I would have made sure Ride the Lightning was in there. That's still probably my favorite Metallica Album (Puppets is close, but Lightning is probably more personal to me and would have definitely been in my three).![]()
