Would it Be OK For Jimmy Page Play Stairway To Heaven In A Music Store?

Dudeman1967

blah, blah, blah...
Could he be forgiven?

I would watch quietly and applaud vigorously when he finished.

Hmmmm? What say you?

There are rules to playing stairway. If done improperly, it causes problems. First, you have to play it on a Gibson EDS 1275 double-neck guitar. Second, none of the members of the band, Spirit, can be present. Third, you have to be a young Jimmy Page at the height of his talent, not wacked out on cocaine, nor addicted to heroin.

I'm guessing the statute of limitations has run out on Stairway. Kids under 30 have probably never heard it and will think it's a cool melody that you created. Smoke on The Water, OTOH....

What if Jimmy Page played Stairway to Heaven, but he incorporated that tapping technique that the guitarist from Van Halen does? How about that?

if you’re serious about Stairway done right, it’s not Page you want at this point in time. The man for the job is Mr Jimmy….

I was at Guitar Center for the first time in about 20 years earlier today. Jimmy Page was not there. It was pretty mellow, did my business which was returning something, glanced at the Boss pedal station for a minute and then left.

Even though I have what is arguably a legit contender for “Best Guitar Center Story Ever” I refrained from sharing it while I was there.

I don't have a problem with Jimmy playing anything anytime he wants. As long as there's a guitar in his hands it means he's not molesting a child
