Achtung! Who else here has a watch fetish?

I’ve had my eye on that one. I really like the mechanical model and it’s relatively inexpensive, but… just wish that it was an automatic.
I also like the models with dia de los muertos style skulls where the time is displayed in the teeth.

I think the mechanical version of the momento mori one is an automatic.

edit: yep, it has an ETA 2824-2 clone for its movement

A new watch came in the mail today; my second dive watch, and pretty much the polar opposite of the retro-style bronze one. It's a bit of a chonk (41mm, so not massive, but chonky in proportions) with a tall bezel to make room for spacing out the hands to accommodate the tritium tubes that it uses instead of the normal glow-in-the-dark paint.

What’s the deal with people selling preowned Rolexes for more than they cost new? I’m not talking about vintage watches, there are people asking over $12,000 for a 2020–2023 Explorer that costs $7,700 new. Is it a money laundering thing?

It's a supply/demand/availability thing - most Rolexes are hard to find new, so the market for used ones supports crazy-ass prices. I don't have the money or interest in a Rolex, but if you can actually get your hands on a new one of one of their popular models for MSRP (and do have the money/interest in such things), scoop it up. You too could be one of the price gougers selling them for thousands above retail!

So how do you get a new Rolex? Do you put down a deposit and wait a year? Is it like Pappy Van Winkle where if you want one of the premium bottles you have to make friends like a high end liquor store?

you go to one of the high end watch sites on line and drop 100K

I’m going to start saving for one of these. It combines things I like about the Nautilus and the Royal Oak without looking as dated as the Nautilus or as tacky as the Royal Oak.
