We're moving house next week.

After moving across the states a couple times and then down the block several more I second a big enough truck to carry it all.

I used pro movers once. The house was boxes floor to ceiling in every room. The craziest things was wrapped in paper padding. Although I had a recliner with a broken footrest and I guess the movers thought they broke it. When it was unpacked it had been repaired.

Bumped into the Badger in Spoons before the cup final yesterday @Motorik

We exchanged Sectarian pleasantries and had a quick pint together.

Been hitting the garden in the new place, weather has been grim and slowing things down but I'm getting there. It's a great space when the sun is shining.

My mate also gifted us a £15k bright orange Italian leather couch for the den

Glad the Badger's doing okay, I remember you saying he took it very rough when his friend died. I hope he's taking it easy with the spirits.

Pics of the couch?

He wasn't looking too sharp tbh but it was an Old Firm morning, I probably wasn't going to make the cover of GQ myself.

That's us been in 7 and a bit months which is crazy. Still lots to do but we're getting there.

Pics of orange couch and our copper feature wall in the bedroom that I agreed to through gritted teeth but has turned out great.

That's a great little space that couch is in. I'd hang out in there all the time.

You should have seen the state of it when we moved in, this is by far the most time and £££ we've put into decorating a room but it does look great.

We need to decant boxes from the last room to be decorated there so we've not finished it yet but once that's done it's going to be the den

Ridiculous big orange couch
Beer machine and wine / gin fridge (we're going to get a globe bar too I think)
Switch, Xbox, MacBook and fire stick hookups all run through the wall so there's no messy cables and it can all live out of sight behind the couch
Chesterfield for reading/ strumming in
Couple of books
V drums
Guitars
Going to plaster the walls with our paintings and pictures

It's going to be the coolest space in the house

I love it. That sounds awesome.

A 2 bed semi around the corner has just gone on sale for £75k less than we bought this place.

It's got a modern kitchen and decor compared to what we got but it's the exact same age and build as our so if it sells for around asking price I'll be very happy with our return.

After 3 sessions with the pressure washer and waiting around 2 weeks for a dry enough window I've started oiling the deck.

3+ hours I've been at it and I've managed to do the bannister, a couple of Newell's and about a third of the spindles. I'm not even going to get near a decking board before I lose daylight.

Finally got some art to go on the living room wall. I'm not sure the fitting I have will be suitable but if I manage to hang it tonight I'll get photos up.

So we're creeping up on 11 months in. Our grand plan for the 1 year mark was getting the horrible kitchen done. On the upside we're able to get the blue sky dream design which kicks off tomorrow

We've done tonnes so far but this was my big goal so I'm really glad we're on course for it.

Christmas dinner at the JBJs!!!

We needed some drainage put down the side of the house. Nothing major - just some bog standard ACO channels.

Unbeknown to the guy who came out to install it, the main line into our house does not sit the expected 600mm below ground, it sits roughly 20mm under ground, right under a slab he dug up and went right through it.

Luckily he had an insulated spade otherwise it could have been REALLY bad. I feel sick just thinking about it. I had considered doing the job myself plus I've been digging all over that bit of the garden over the Summer with a bog standard metal spade!

So after several hours, half a dozen work vans, a digger, needing to cut electricity for the whole estate - cue lots of ruined dinners and a cacophony of burglar alarms going off in unison... Everyone must love us!

We now have a broken fence a massive hole and a slightly altered cable.

The owner prior to my pals mum put an extension on. The pitch of the roof meant they've built it down about a 1.5 feet compared to the original footprint of the house. They've basically excavated down toward the mains (water too, which the contractors managed to burst!) without moving them.

I'm just glad the guy is OK. I feel sick thinking about what could have happened.

Scary to think we're only a couple of months away from being here quarter of a decade!!!

Popped back in to show off one of Mrs JBJs trademark "sounds terrible but actually works out looking pretty cool" ideas (see the brushed copper painted living room feature wall for inspiration!). She ordered this from a stall at a bougie market just before Christmas.

The top comes off so you can store things in it too.

He also made clocks out of old cymbals he painted that would have looked great in the kitchen however a recent purchase of a mustard yellow cuckoo clock (another weird design choice that works!) meant we had to pass on it.

I'll add that Mrs jbj doesn't have a musical bone in her body but I'm sure if I'd suggested spending the kind of money she did on a recycled floor tom as a side table she'd have shut it right down :embarrassed:
