Using AI as a songwriting tool

Well, the King of England over there has the money for it. He’s reading the newspaper and doing the crossword and it’s that him espresso. Dude is using AI to write bangers for the 1% jet set. Goddamn hipster Warren Buffett shit.
i didn’t even realize i accidentally wrote ‘over paying’ instead ‘over here paying’ until just now.

Sometimes I get better results with producer.ai than Suno. They gave me way too many credits there when I signed up now I have more than I know what to do with.

This is a theme for a fake 90s TV show called Come Get Some. It's about an old man who shoots perverted criminals.

This is a 60s girl group song I made about the US presidents. All of the information is 87% verified by AI as factuality.

Does producer.ai have better prompt engineering or better sounds?

Each 'session' is like a conversation. And the 'producer' turns what you ask for into more specific prompts that can generate things. Like if you want a vintage 70s vibe it creates a bunch of prompt words that get as close to that as possible. Afterwards you can continue working on the song with follow up commands. You also have more advanced options that you can tune manually. I haven't tried 'add vibe'. Apparently you can upload a song (ideally your own) and have it use that style in the song.

Hemingway pastiche is not bad but the Dylan pastiche is dreadful.

A man and a woman meet in a variety of times, situations, and places. In each scene they encounter each other as if they had never met, they are drawn to each other, there is a spark of familiarity, but each time they regretfully split up. The last line of each section is the same.

Folk rock.

Something that's been on my mind latley with the big push to incorporate AI into every aspect of life is the fundamental question of 'why are you doing the thing you are doing?' Essentially, are you deriving satisfaction/reward from the existence of a final product or the personal experience in creating that final product?

I've found that I'm fine with AI taking some of the general drudgery out of my day but I'm getting zero personal satisfaction from prompting AI to attempt to do everything for me and simply debugging/polishing its output.

Well said

One of the things that stuck with me in one of my undergraduate writing courses was the prof saying “everyone wants to have written, but what you really need to focus on is writing.” I think in a productivity oriented content slurry world, people think they can hack their way to the end via AI and other tricks. But the point is to do the work—that’s where you learn, grown, transcend, screw up, revise, etc.

Really sitting with stuff and making multiple attempts isn’t sexy and doesn’t make for good content. And if you think of everything like yr a good little running dog lackey of the bourgeois, then the process is a big inefficient waste of time when you can have an output today for almost free.

But what is the point?

I mean, I think posts like the one below illustrate why it is that boring money freaks like this tech…

If you are a lyricist who targets mainstream genres and who struggles to produce good sounding demos of your songs you should switch to Suno immediately.

If you are a digital artist in a music adjacent form (video) and you struggle to find suitable/available tracks to fit your project you should switch to Suno immediately.

If you use midi generators/samples/loops in your songwriting process you should try Suno and see how it fits with your workflow.

If you are a musician who creates melodies/chord progressions/arrangements but struggles with lyrics you should try ChatGPT or other LLM based tools for the lyrics and wait for a better GenAI DAW.

If you are a handcrafted artisan who does not need to increase output keep doing what you do and don’t worry about Suno.
