Dig it! The Perpetual Pedalboard of the Day Thread

I was calling it done.

Pedalboard update. Band aren't doing anything acoustic based so I took off the mini board for that and downsized the lower board. I've gone posh as it's now on a bit of pine rather than MDF.

Realised I hadn't posted any updates on this for awhile.

Summer last year I added the Mooer Pitch Box and a dedicated power supply from Amazon. It's a neat little unit with 6 isolated (apparently) outputs from a company called Gokko. 2x100ma, 2x300ma and 2x500ma all at 9v with an 18v power supply.

Been working well for ages but I've now gone 4 cable method and put my Lekato Tank-G modeller pedal in my amp's FX loop.

For most gig's I've just been running it on the floor as shown in this rehearsal pic from March.

That's fine at a pub gig where we're the only band on, but when we had a festival gig, I had to find a way to make setup/takedown quicker.

Welcome to the pedalboard extension. The Tank-G lives off the board so I can use it for practice etc on its own but it's two seconds work to velcro it to the board.

Simplifying my life to what I actually need into the Carr Rambler with whatever guitar.
The pedals:
TU3-cant beat it, has extra power out jack if needed.
Diamond Comp- Ive tried all the clean boosts/preamps etc and this thing sounds as good as any of em. Perfect for goosing the Carr at low vol to start working a bit, and I can add in nice studio style comp as needed mild to pretty squashed, depending on gig, guitar, genre, etc.
Protein-Got tons of individual OD pedals I love but this one is a twofer and sounds really good.
Karma-Another flavor of gain, but the powerful thing is the 3 band eq. In the pic its set for a mid hump.
Lillian-I could always swap this for a chorus if absolutely required but I dont really care for chorus. The variable dry/phase/vib knob is a nice feature, you can get subtle with it.
Delays-I like a short and a longer available. I dont like to fuss with em that much, and I dont really play stuff I need to tap in. Plus they sound great both on, the DM2 set to a short single repeat 40ms-120ms fattening/slap into the DD3 at a 300ish 2-3 repeats for those epic lead lines.
Reverb & Tremelo-are on the amp and they are stellar, so I dont need pedals for that.
Looper-On the board yet a very easy to reach position.
At home, this does the job. I can always throw a fuzz, wah/filter on the floor in front if need be.
For a gig, just take off the looper and add whatever needed, prob just a fuzz or rat or similar, and rearrange/re-cable slightly as required.

Cool! Your board makes a lot of sense. I've been looking at comps for a while because I do a lot of cleans. What's the range like with the Diamond?

Right now I'm back to TU-2 -> TS-9 -> DD-3 and then into my Vibro Champ. I keep the verb at a level where adding a bit of slapback will make a difference (depending on the room), and I have the trem on pretty much all the time but set very low (that's my secret wobble weapon).

By range I guess you mean the range of compression available on it? It's no Dyna Comp, but it will squash pretty good. So it goes from zero to pretty darn squashed. The tone knob range is also impressive. It can darken overly bright single coils or brighten up a muddy bucker. That combined with a vol knob connected to a good sounding clean preamp, it's the most useful clean boost I own. The way it's pictured its just goosing the single channel non-master vol Carr turned way down on 2, tone knob taking some bite off my tele(mainly because of the extremely bright and open sound of the blue side of the Protein) and evening out my fingerpicking slightly. But I still have tons of dynamic range available with just picking dynamics.

Yeah, sorry - that's exactly what I meant. I'm mainly looking at something that can make a super clean setting a little more forgiving, especially live. From your description this could be a candidate. Thanks!

IMO thats basically what it's for, with the added bonus of the powerful tone knob and available clean boost on tap. I have a Dyna Comp and a JHS Whitey Tighty with clean blend, but I prefer the optical Diamond circuit even at the more chicken picking extremes. Its just more natural sounding to my ears. Most reviews and high praises you see online are for the larger version with more knobs and fine tuning, but its a pretty darn big pedal. Ive been happy with the normal sized Jr version. But if you dont need the space for dirt, etc then you might wanna consider the big boy version.

I do the same thing with the Carr;'s tremolo. Always on set low and slow. I only use the Lillian when I want an actual phaser or vib, or use the dry control to add a just tiny bit more subtle movement to my core sound.

From left to right, top to bottom: Spiral Electric Effects Demhe Fuzz, FOMOfx Virtual Jeff Pro, IK Multimedia ToneX One, Dr Tone Fduck BumbleDee, Line 6 HX Stomp, Airstep ToneX Edition, Extra Control Switch-HX.

@jrockbridge I had to look up the FOMOfx Jeff Pro thingy to see wth it was. Pretty darn cool.
Does it do individual string/B bender/G bender things as well as normal vibrato?
No. It can’t do individual strings. It changes the pitch of all 6 strings at the same time. So, the digital, Virtual Jeff Pro can closely emulate a TransTrem whammy setup, for example. But, it’s highly adjustable.

Other tremolo systems drop pitch unevenly across the 6 strings, for example. So, the Virtual Jeff can’t truly emulate all the idiosyncrasies of a Floyd, Bigsby, Strat Trem, etc. But, you can set the pitch range to closely match them. Again, it’s closest analog match is the TransTrem with added customization of the bending range.

The Virtual Jeff comes with a digital whammy bar controller that can be mounted on any guitar. The box allows setting the amount it will raise, or lower, pitch. The drop pitch side can be adjusted in semitones 1-5, 7, 12, 24. The raise pitch side has adjustment options for 1-5, 7, 8, 12.

It can also be used as virtual capo to raise or lower the pitch of any guitar, without the need of the whammy bar controller. It can emulate a baritone or bass guitar.

I use it more for the virtual capo than the whammy. Often I’m only raising or lowering pitch by a single half step. My favorite whammy use is to collapse the bar slightly just before playing a chord. I’m under utilizing the power of the box, but I prefer subtle changes. It’s nice that the whammy never makes the guitar go out of tune.

I have the whammy mounted on a Les Paul studio with an Evertune bridge. I can go days without having to tune that LP.

I put together the Notaklon I ordered a couple weeks back in a moment of weakness. Took about 10 min. Thought about painting it or something but ultimately I couldnt be arsed. Likewise the silly Goop.
I sold my Tumnus 6-7 yrs ago and kinda miss it sometimes.
I ran the Notaklon into a Plumes and got some pretty damn sweet bluesy tones.
The Plumes is a very bright pedal and has a lot of headroom to be called a TS type. It took me a long time to figure out how to make it actually approximate a TS kinda thing. It's really grown on me since I figured out how to "tame" it, ie "careful with that treble knob Eugene"
The Klone into the Plumes only improves it. Got em both set at low gain Plumes at 10, NotaK at 9:30.
So right now my dirt chain is
Germanium Mini FF>Protein> NotaKlon>Plumes.
Lots of sounds available, all pretty darn good.
The FF and Protein's Nobels side is fine for gainer stuff. Protein's BB side and/or Klone is great into the Plumes. BB>Plumes is pretty open, K>Plumes gives more mid push and compression.
I was getting perhaps the most pleasing lead tone Ive ever got with SG>Green Protein>Klone>Plumes, a bit of DM2w, and the Carrs sweet spring reverb & trem.
Stacking 3 low gain drives I dont really need the compressor, so it's gone back on the shelf for a bit.

Coaxing some pretty sweet sounds outta this rig today. Pulled the Affinity Strat out and Id forotten how nice the thing plays and sounds.
I bought it for like $120 new on a whim 7-8 yrs ago because I've loved the color since Ry Cooder held one on his Bop till You Drop album.
But I always felt bad and regretted the impulse buy. The pickups were ceramic, the 70s headstock was off-putting, and the fretboard wasn't dark enough. . All stupid reasons because it plays excellently, sounds like a Strat, and it's my fav Fender car color. Anyway Im finally learning to love a Klon, a Blues Breaker, and a Tube Screamer, and regained some appreciation for the cheap Strat. Also I kinda get the Mayer thing now w Strat shaped object, nice full clean tube amp, and those pedals.

I’m not showing the entire board because it’s a little over kill.
I wanted to try a Rat pedal but wasn’t to keen on just a regular rat. Someone on Facebook posted their Magus Pro. Then found someone comparing it with a stock Rat. Did the Rat thing with options so, I got one.
JHS closed out pedals at half price and I splurged. The double barrel is a Morning Glory and Moonshine in one enclosure. They came out with the color Notaklon and when it was 20% off I got one.
Then after those sales Stewmac dumped their pedal line on Amazon and not only that it came up on a red tag special with no crazy Stewmac shipping fees. In the end the 2 Kings was $70 out of pocket and no waiting list.

How are you liking that Magus so far? Turbo Rat is my favorite Rat.

I like it for rhythm more. When I first played with it first thing I thought was Foo Fighters. I was messing with it yesterday on a guitar I just swapped pickups in and was doing a weird bend and stumbled into some very Jeff Beck sounding notes. That’s something I’m going play around with more.

The little old Crate VC has quit on me. I'll get it to the tech soon, meanwhile I drug out the Crush 35 and rigged up this little board to take to a jam session next week. It sounds really good with the SG. The looper is just on there for now while I was checking things out. I really like the Joyo combination tune/power supply. My quality power doesn't fit under these little flat boards and its much quieter that a daisy chain.
