IIRC, the jive software is sold with the angle that it provides a new method for companies to engage and market to their customer base so it not like the upgrade was just to get rid of the bugs with the old software but more likely to general new revenue channels/opportunities.

I don't see where HC was an asset to MF that much anymore.
I didn't know software could fall apart.

There are ways of doing that and still make a site usable. Thats the idea behind the newer vBulletin. Unfortunately they put this version to market before it was ready, too. You'll see the obvious problems if you spend more than 10 minutes here but at least it functions like a forum.

It's still a place to advertise to.

I would imagine that you have enough people messing with something they don't fully understand and they can wreck it.

What I don't understand is why they couldn't just reinstall vBulletin 3.8.x and restore the database. You can also integrate 3rd party ssearch engines or even use Google for the site.

I've been wandering around cyberland for the past few days like a vagabond without a home.
I've been a member of HC for about 5 years now & like many feel very disenfranchised by what's happening there.
Also been a member of the gear page for several years, but never felt as accepted there as at HC.
Maby the feeling of micro-management mentality that's there stiffles the feeling of individuality...I don't know...
Several individuals that I know seem to have landed here & it has the "warm homey" feel that I like, so here I am.
