Bullshit. The one in the first half was a penalty. The one you get the penalty on was a clear dive.
That said, Robben is almost Ronaldo-level when it comes to punchable faces.

there is a difference between diving and going down easily. He absolutely didn't dive, he got kicked by the Mexican defender and made the most of it as any forward would do.

I suspect someone is a little bitter? :Wave:

That's what I love about our team captain Dempsey, when he get's called on a minor foul (actually going for the ball and unfortunately knocking a guy down) and the guy goes flopping he gets this typical american dad look that says "Get the fuck up, put your pussy back in your moms purse and play some ball".

There was slight contact, but kicked he wasn't. Stupid of the defender to leave his leg, but imo nowhere near a penalty. Ridiculous overplaying by Robben, as he always does.

Bitter, no. Holland just happens to have several of my least favourite players. Robben and RVP - cheats, elbows and serial whiners. De Jong should have been in jail instead of on a football pitch. And this particular Holland side is playing horrible un-Dutch football. The National team equivalent of Chelsea.

It's been wonderful seeing the US team's attitude and mentality. That's ideally how every team should behave.

So what? I hate that exact side of some of our own players (well, one in particular) and will never be ok with them doing it.
Luckily it's been quite rare we've won by cheating lately. I'd rather it never happened, but that's a bit much to ask.

Would be way worse coming from a Utd or Chelsea fan btw. :grin:

Looked to me like clear late contact, and missed the ball, resulting in a trip. So to me, yes a penalty. Did the Dutch dude play it up? Yes, absolutely. But not cheating as the trip was there. IMO.

Not enough contact for me, would rather they got a penalty for that one in the first half, which was indeed very clear.

A shame the match had to be decided that way. :embarrassed:

Think the Dutch team will be found out against a better team though. Defensively very suspect and way too reliant on their counter attacks.
 
I only saw the first 30 minutes at a bar, then had to go shopping. The bar I was in had lots of people in orange. On my shopping trip to buy chorizo and vegetables, the local Mexicans seemed distracted by every radio and TV within smelling distance.

I'll be in the VIP room again for Germany/Algeria. Throwing off their profit curve again - $60 for all the great German beer I can drink and all the food I can eat for 3 hours.

Right now, I'm making a paella in honor of both Spain and Mexico. :tongue:

The defense is the reason we play this style of football. We have a worldclass attack and very good midfield. Our defense is fairly weak.

To be fair, the typical Dutch total football style never got us anything. I like it too, but perhaps our biggest weakness in the past has been slavishly adhering to this style, while it isn't always effective. Van Gaal has been very good in exploiting our strengths. If it makes us play uglier, so be it.

Was a weird match today really. The Dutch didn't look bothered at all until the last 25 minutes or so.
Very weird seeing Dirk play left wing-back btw.
You do look very dependant on whether your two forwards have a good day or not, and RVP clearly didn't have a good day today.

With that defense and goalie, I'll be a bit surprised if you can get past the semi finals, but Greece or Costa Rica should be beatable.

I was referring a certain Uruguayan player who shouldnt be anywhere near a football pitch for far longer than 4 months.

I expect him to be sold off to Barca quite shortly, and I'm perfectly ok with that. I've had enough of him and his idiocy already.
Wonder if he'll ever be available to play (as in non-banned) for a full season at any club. Probably not. :wink:
