Return to the Planet of the "Hey Euro's its that time again" Thread.

I went out for my first run for absolutely ages today. I totally bolloxed my left knee (patellar tendonitis) doing the Edinburgh marathon at the end of May and it's only now feeling OK enough to try running on. It actually started being a problem about two months before the marathon, but I decided to run through it and pay for it later. Then stupidly I kept running, albeit much less mileage, for about a month after the marathon. Can't be playing this game aged 51.

Exercise is bad for you :embarrassed:

I felt a twinge in my calf earlier, no idea what caused it. Decided to go for a walk anyway and made it about 5 minutes before I felt something twang and now I can barely walk. Never had a calf strain before. Do not recommend.

Once you reach a certain age and can feel a bit of pain somewhere, running (or walking) through it doesn't work anymore. :embarrassed:

Btw, well done Wok!

I am now 47 and I needed to see a podiatrist for my collapsed arches. Need support insoles and can’t wear my favourite trainers anymore. Getting old sucks

I went skateboarding this summer. Firmly planted myself against a slab of concrete, was crippled for a week... I used to shrug that shit off like it was nothing. Now I touch the ground in an odd way and I'm fucked for days...

yep, i used to be a decent skater in my late teens early 20s. My gf ( who is 41) skates and wanted me to go with her. Hasn’t happened yet because of the weather. I am not sure if I want to risk destroying my ankles

Afternoon.

Just been through to Glasgow to pick up a guitar from the nicest fella in the world, who has recently opened a shop called The Wee Guitar C0mpany (https://www.the-wee-guitar-company.com/).

It rained for the entire time I was on the M8 (in both directions). That part was not relaxing at all.

I'm on single track

Not a million miles away from me.

Eh if you've been decent at it, just get yourself some big-ish soft wheels(something like this https://www.revert95.com/collections/wielen/products/mini-logo-awol-a-cut-78a) and cruise around. I have my proper skateboard with hard wheels and a cruiser I used back when I worked in a skateshop as commuting vehicle. I still like to deny my age and hurt myself on my normal skateboard every once in a while, but just grabbing the big wheeled cruiser to go back and forth between my studio and home etc is very nice. It's both relaxing, physical exercise and gives a good feeling from just being on a board without the stress of those nice faceplants from a tiny pebble :embarrassed:

The added clunkiness and grip of the soft wheels means you won't get tempted to try anything too crazy, it's a more comfortable ride and you can join her and just roll around, maybe drop some stuff, still do some ollies if you feel comfortable enough etc.

First time I take it out after the snow's gone I always feel like I'll break my face for sure, but at the end of the street it's always as if I've never done different.

been looking at both regular street decks and cruisers. The latter seem more realistic. And far safer

I've come down with a nasty chest infection. I was WFH today but spent the day on the couch feeling sorry for myself. :(

Get well soon @jbj

Had the first actual live gig in ages on Friday. Was a cool show, our performance was part of a program that was put together as a flowing whole, turned out really cool.

Tons of good response to the new visuals I created for this, all in all, super nice.

Cheers folk. I've not been off work for about 4 or 5 years, this is the 2nd time I've been off this month. Taking tomorrow off too, I went back after a day earlier in the month and I still wasn't 100%.

On the upside we have free flowing access to Lateral Flow tests and nothing is coming back to say it's covid.

I managed to get some footery excel work done for my working party so I only have one more task to do for them this year in theory and I can chill on that side of things.
