Please consider:

Many here already know I am an astronomy fanatic, and have a particular interest in solar eclipses.

Have traveled vast distances to see them, in Tahiti, Australia, Chile and even deepest darkest Oregon.

Less than a month off, on April 8th, will be a prime total eclipse right here in Central Texas! No air travel or hotel required!

Now look what just arrived:

Jury Summons mojo!

I totally blew one of those off right before covid hit. I hope I'm not a wanted man.

I apologize for this.

The Feds snagged me in the fall. Got all my sign in straight as early as I could and then I just had to call in and see if I needed to report that day. They never had me report in.

I got a summons last month. I was supposed to appear on Monday but all of the trials had settled by Friday afternoon so I’m good for a few years.

Oddly, I've never been called for jury duty and I'm 63 years old. Most everyone I know has been called at least once and some of my friends have been called multiple times.

Man that is surprising. I’m your age and have been on actual juries 3-5 times, and can’t count the times I’ve had to show up. Are you on a terrorist watch list or what?

Not that I know of.

I have had a lawyer tell me that both prosecuting and defense lawyers will use their discretionary strikes to keep engineers off of a jury. I have put "engineer" as my occupation on my tax returns all of my adult life. I wonder if the jury selection people have access to tax returns?

My first full Solar Eclipse happened when I was stationed in Panama. Anyone that knows that part of the world knows that even in rainy season the clouds form, drop their rain and leave again. Rarely do you have a totally overcast day.

That one was. It just got progressively darker and then light again.

Years later we had one here in Germany that went over well.

Fuck this forum. We cannot let @tiger roach steal the sun or blot it out or whatever. Someone do something and cancel this eclipse!

Maybe we can roofie him and send him to Arizona to crash on Deebo’s sofa that week
