Played my first round of golf today

Yesterday was the looniest, most up-and-down round I've ever played. On one hand, I carded four birdies, which is twice my previous best. On the other hand, I had 3 meltdown holes for triple bogies, and a couple doubles as well.

I really need to work on my sand game. :ack:

yesterday was not great. first five holes were par 4's and i took a 5 on each one.
par'd the 6th. bogied the 7th and 8th and par 4 9th.

edit: i tripled the par 5 8th.

I wouldn't get too down about a day with only pars and bogies. I bet the difference between that and a really good day was just 2-3 puts that barely missed...

yea, except for the 8th hole, most of the bogies were due to 2/3 puts. the greens on this course are very difficult and quite sloped, mainly because the rest of the course isn't that hard or long.
and i think i wrote that wrong, the 8th hole (par 5) was a triple.
i drove it to the right into big trees. then hit it out to the fairway, no ground gained. then hit to the right again, into the trees.
then used my 6 iron to smack and run to about 30 yards. chip went deep, then 3 putted back.

[yep....that pretty much covers it ]

I hear it is a cool town to hang out in, aside from the famous golf course. Would love to visit some time.

Have a good gig!

I've never had a proper night out there but it's ab upmarket student town. Kind of like a less posh Oxford so all bougie little cocktail bars and ale houses.

Currently at my pals caravan park bar fighting sleep (it's 10pm) and moaning about the volume of the cabaret singer :embarrassed:

played 9 today. started out pretty crappy. kept hitting things left.
but then on 6, it all turned around.
score: 1) bogie, 2) double, 3) bogie, 4) par, 5) bogie, 6) par, 7) par, 8) par, 9) birdie. :100:

We played 5 rounds last week in Cabo. The courses were all very nice indeed, but difficult. Even from the "Senior" tee they were longer than I am used to. But we had a blast.

The courses I can recommend to anyone thinking of playing down there are:
  • Puerto Los Cabos - they are all expensive, but this one was the priciest of the bunch. Worth it.
  • Cabo Real - so fun we played it twice. They have amazing landscaping touches in addition to the naturally occurring cacti and whatnot.
I can't really recommend Club Campestre San Lucas, it was just too over-the-top with the penal bunkers and green complexes. To be fair though, my swing was crap that day, and it was really windy. So take my opinion with a grain of salt.

This view is from the beachinest hole at Cabo Real:
