Played my first round of golf today

Crazy stuff. I’m not sure I have the reliable facts yet - a cop was somehow injured in the incident? Hopefully all a misunderstanding from the confusion surrounding the traffic accident, as Scheffler’s people are claiming.

Just saw an item - if true, prosecutors have decided to drop charges after a review of the body cam footage.

the initial 'report' from an officer sounded a little hinky. how did scottie "drag" the cop? the whole thing, at first, made scottie sound like some kind of aggresive hard head. and that just isn't scottie.

also, it initially sounded to me like a cop with real anger issues.

not sure we're ever going to really know, unless scottie brings suit for false arrest or something.

My substitute was taking up Disc Golf (Frolf, Frisbee Golf as called by others) in 2021. Same game but utilizing discs (smaller than Frisbees) and much more fun IMO. Outside of the cost for discs, no green fees (except at private courses), the game is faster and you are walking with a purpose. What I also love is enjoying the scenery of the courses I have played and some that I yet to play but seen in pictures. The other thing is over 90% of the people on the courses are cool. Not stuffy snobby shitheads with attitudes. I despised it when a ball golf course required you to ride a cart instead of walking, that's not exercise.

My family and I have been camping at a couple of lakes that each have nice disc golf courses. We are going start playing. Should I get a beginner set with a bag at $40- $100, or skip this step and get a more expensive one?

Both sports look fun to me. I've only golfed at a driving range. I think I could ignore the stuffy snobby shitheads with attitudes. I do want to take up

Adding @baimun to this only because he started out as beginner as well. I sold him a few discs to help get him going but he already had a few of his own to begin with.

If interested, let me know. I have more discs for sale and could put a few sets together for you as well - reasonably priced, no bag. The sets would be better (quality) premium discs than buying a beginner set which has base plastic.

I got back on the course for the first time since that incident I shared with you all. I played Tecolote Canyon with my wife. It’s mostly par 3 holes, but it's a fun course to play. I had a lot of good iron shots, but my short game was not very consistent. I couldn't hit out of the sand traps to save my life. My putting was decent. I two putted most of the holes.

I really enjoyed myself, and the urge to get out and play has returned. I'm looking forward to my next round.

Good news. I imagine that incident really messed with you, glad to see you getting past it

So remember the hole-in-one I was bragging about a couple of months ago? Here is where my tee shot ended up yesterday on the same hole.

i played friday, took half a day off work. played ok (for me). my driver was smokin'...i was hitting IN the fairways and i was getting in the 250 - 265 yard range, which is nearly miraculous for me. i'm usually only 210-220.

have another tee time tomorrow at 11:40. only playing nine. we'll see how THAT goes

Unfortunately I got this message too late. A day after I asked you that question, I purchased 4 disc golf sets and a disc basket. The sets I bought weren't the cheapest. The rubber seems soft. Maybe they aren't too horrible? I'm sure yours are better. I will buy 2 sets from you and see how they compare to the others. Thanks a lot. I will message you soon for the information.

When you are ready, let me know.

FWIW, I was not since I last replied as I was on vaca. Share a pic on what you picked up?

Share it here!!!

Played the 9 hole course at Balboa Park yesterday. I shot a 50, which is very good for me. I even got my very first Birdie!!
What did it cost to play 9? Probably one of the reasons why I stopped playing 30 years ago along with my right knee (torn ACL). Found DG cheaper and more accessible.

Either way the exercise is great especially if you walk versus riding a cart.

It's a municipal course in San Diego, of which I am a resident, so my greens fee was $22.50. I usually walk the course.

Yes he Municipal courses are always more affordable.

I remember my local courses being around $20 for 18. Went and checked what the prices are today, yikes $5-60 and these are municipal courses. The local executive course is around $20. I expected prices to go up as it has been 30 years since I last played ball golf or what some call real golf.

The course I usually play, Torrey Pines North, is $48 for residents on weekdays, and $64 on the weekends. South is $69 on weekdays and $85 on weekends. Those are the resident rates. Non-residents pay a lot more. There's a couple of other privately owned courses around town, and it's usually $60-$90 depending on when you play and how busy it is. The cheapest is Tecolote Canyon which is around $30 for 18-holes. It's executive length, so mostly par 3 holes with a few par-4 holes. It's a fun course to play, but the tee-box and "fairway" conditions leave a lot to be desired, but I guess you get what you pay for.

It was a while back but I did play one course in SD. Don't remember the name. All I remember is that they had sleeping quarters for those who wanted to stay overnight.

Played a round at Torrey. I was crushing my driver today, my putter was hot too, my irons were very spotty though.

My putter is the Odyssey 2 ball mallet. I tried every putter at the golf shop when I bought it, and that one always sent the ball where I wanted it to go. It has really made a difference. The last few round I've played I 2 putt most holes, and even get some one putts from time to time.
