It was. When Castlin's name came up under the #3 spot they all went nuts. Fun to watch their spontaneous joy.

OTOH, Justin Gatlin really blew it in the qualifying round. Looked to me like he shut it down too early thinking he was going to coast in at 2nd. Instead he was third and didn't qualify on time. On the plus side, I guess he won't have to lose to Bolt again.
 
Seems I owe an apology to the people of Brazil on that whole swimmers getting robbed story from a few days ago. It is looking a lot like the swimmers were out being drunken idiots and committing crimes in Brazil rather that the victims they claimed to be.

It's incredible really. I mean, they broke some stuff in a gas station bathroom...stupid yes, but they paid off the guy that night and everyone was happy. If they'd have just gone back to their rooms and gone back to normal, it wouldn't have been an issue. Why the hell would he then go on national TV with such a ridiculous story? He must be an idiot. OTOH, he was smart enough to get out of town before the law caught up with him. Leaving his teammates behind to deal with his lie is pretty high on the douche scale though.
 
I've watched very little coverage, but gawddamnit if that Usain Bolt isn't a freak of nature! It's just not fair. The guy has an extra gear AND a supercharger that no other runner ever has. At the end of the 4x100 last night, he crossed the finish line still easily breathing through his nose... mouth shut. The rest of the pack were all like a school of large mouth bass desperately searching for water on dry land.

Brutal.

And the pilots was laid to da bone home!
 
So yeah, Norway's worst Olympics in, what, 52 years, was it?

I'm really happy for all the medals we got, all four bronze medals... But this is embarrassing. We shouldn't have to rely on the handball ladies bringing home the gold, especially not when you've got Russia back in peak form and Trefilov doing a tremendous job. Most successful winter Olympians, but almost hopeless once the snow clears? Even with a lot more money spent on non-winter sports? Wow.

We've already done that for years, didn't work. If I'm not mistaken, our most successful runners have all been white guys and dames, like Rodal, Waitz and Kristiansen. This year, Karoline Grøvdal got in 7th at the 5k finals, which was a pretty mean achievement when you look at the actual race. Not a medal, but great stuff.
 
I haven't been paying attention to most of the Olympics. I have, on DirecTV, a channel dedicated to Olympic basketball, and one dedicated to Olympic soccer. I've been watching those 2 channels, mainly.

Today I've been watching a bit of the coverage on NBC. They interviewed Allyson Felix… :love: she's hella cute, seems like a very nice person, too.
