Is it just me...

I've had a great couple of months, honestly. I'm happy. Miss the culture, food, events, etc. of city life, but in the summer, it's nice to be closer to the woods.

As for right here? I like it here. With one not-so-subtle POS exception, I enjoy the company of pretty much the entire forum. I know that some of my opinions piss some people off, but that's life. Just like any family or workplace or community. It's not personal, I just happen have strong feelings about a lot of things. I'm not emotionally invested in my belief that Floyd Rose bridges should be eradicated, mind you. Even though they should. Or that koa guitars are wrong, that the Foo Fighters suck, PRS guitars are ugly, quoting comedies is the lamest thing ever, etc.

Life's just more interesting this way.
You having to explain that is what's wrong with this forum. If people get bent out of shape from people fucking around, I hate to see how they handle a serious real life crisis.

Christ on a sit-n-spin!

I've been really mellow here. Yet, days happen where I simply am tired and don't feel like dealing the person who feels the need to point out my science is not quite up to the class room standard when I'm taking part in a discussion. Usually I'll say fuck it and just stay away for a week or so and just abandon a topic all together. I may give a quick snippet but I try not too here, I really do and have never done a 10 to 15 post, 5 or 6 page tirade like I did at the other place where I was just a moody little bitch 24/7.

I'd just like to add that I love being corrected on matters of fact. Who doesn't love learning and personal growth? Am I right? Please feel free to jump in and let me know if I'm making a stupid rookie mistake like overstating Einstein's involvement in the Manhattan Project, or whatnot.

Damn...without Robert J bringing Al his hair gel every day, the Manhattan Project would have never went anywhere.

Smorgasuras Bitch!

Here's the problem as I see it. And maybe it isn't even a problem.

We all have our shticks. Lord knows I have mine. For whatever reason, a few people have decided of late to ramp their shtick up to unusually high levels, to the point where they change from being actual individuals to being cartoon characters. Then it's almost every single thread you read through, you're tripping over this cartoon character and their shtick, to the point where you don't really feel like reading anymore. It isn't being sensitive, or butthurt, or outraged or anything like that. It's more like "wow, really? Still? that's pretty annoying". Regardless of whether this character is an act or not is immaterial. It's just old and tired, and it's what kills places like this.

TL/DR version - get a life.

Meh, constant civility is overrated. Every now and then it's good to just say "Fuck you in your stupid fucking meathead face" and carry on.
Unfortunately that won't stop PMs from crybabies who think the Internet is serious business.
