Mojo Request I'm not trying to depress you, it's just that if you're still thinking of AI as "glorified Google search", then you're really not keeping up with this

Oh don't get me wrong, I'm loving it. The engineer in me is fascinated. But also horrified. People are curing their dogs cancer with custom made mRNA vaccines designed using Chat GPT (I'm not making this up). But one nutter is all it takes and it's 12 Monkeys time.

We should use ChatGPT to make ourselves into undying vampires. Or Batmans. And we should cure @baimun with it.

Identified the 'one nutter' :embarrassed:
My plan is cool. You plan is just dog cancer nonsense. Maybe dogs want cancer. Maybe they long to escape their enslavement. Maybe they don’t wanna wear cute widdle outfits and listen to baby talk or hang out with that one weird hot tub teacher guy.

Facebook won’t let me embed it, but I saw a hilarious video by an exercise influencer showing how someone downloads her videos, replaces the face with AI, makes the boobs gigantic, and reposts them as their own.

Poor @baimun. All those experiments….

I read part of the first artice, but I read all of the 2nd one. I've been using AI in my line of work and I have noticed the rapid improvements. I no longer have to spend weeks writing code to develop a new application, I can tell AI what I want and it will make it for me in minutes. On the one hand it has made me a more effective and productive engineer, but I wonder how long it will be before my job is obsolete? I think it's just a matter of time. That said, I'm not far off from retiring if my current financial path holds for a few more years, so maybe I will walk away at that time with a nice golden parachute.

Elon Musk predicts that AI will eventually create a high level of production that will outpace the money supply. Of course, that will cause deflation. Elon is also predicting the world economy in 10 years will have grown by 10x.

Elon Musk also pays people to play video games for him and then brags about how good he is at video games so maybe we should stop taking him seriously just because he made a bunch of money a million years ago kinda sorta being part of PayPal.

I’m not a gamer. My son is an avid gamer. I’ll have to ask him for his perspective on it, since it isn’t something I care about.

I know Musk is hated by ideological people around the globe for his turn toward politics. Before that happened, he was embraced by those same people for his companies, Tesla and SpaceX, which were driving crucial climate change action, and technology innovation.

I have a distaste for things driven by tribal ideology and/or religion. I tend to filter those things out. I’m unaffiliated.

Despite Elon Musk being so controversial, he’s still proven himself to be brilliant in several areas. I would take his opinions about AI more seriously than anyone on this forum. I do notice that his outlook on AI is very optimistic, in contrast to my own feelings of pessimism and distrust.

Humans are flawed, and contradictory in many ways. Elon is certainly flawed and contradictory in many ways. Everyone here is contradictory, and flawed IMO. I include myself in that opinion. I believe AI will remain a flawed and contradictory technology. It will continue to contain biases. I remain worried.

He was a dingus even before he tried to buy the US presidency and owned hisself.

Musk is, at best, a celebrity investor. He also self-owned his way into having to buy Twitter. Tesla (which Musk did not found) and Space X both suckle on the government teat and have struggled to deliver on their promises.

Musk also was super afraid of AI because he misread a bunch of science fiction and now he’s in favor of it because money and being an AI booster is en vogue.

Elon Musk is a weird guy and a cosplay genius and an attention whore. He’s also maybe a Nazi or at least doesn’t feel the need to disabuse people of the suspicion he is a Nazi. I’m not inclined to take him seriously just because 30 years ago he fell ass backwards into part of the tech that eventually kinda became PayPal during a weird speculative gold rush that let weird freaks con investors out of shitloads of money before the Dot Com bust.

Even before he became Space Karen because COVID cut into his desire to run a shitty workplace and before he decided he wanted to moonlight as God King Emperor of DOGE, he was still a shitty weirdo. Remember this?

Women might disagree with that one. I bet an AI sex robot wouldn’t ask its girlfriend to do anal over and over again for years.
True, they never asked in The Sperminator.
When he said, "I'll be back", somebody's butt was about to be had. The Sara Cockn'er scene was pretty wild.

It's all there is Smurfco's article.
