Let’s Get Obtuse!
This topic just got Beato-ed.
There are already companies investing in, and developing small scale reactors. Something similar in size to what would be found on a nuclear submarine. The idea is that a data center, or group of them, would have their own small local reactor to power themselves. Of course, there are a lot of regulatory hurdles to overcome before this becomes reality. At a high level, it make sense, but like anything else, it all comes down to implementation."building reactors takes years."
This isn't in the politics forum so, I'll just say, I can imagine a scenario where that could be cut down to a month.
In the scenario I'm imagining, no matter how common sense the regulations are, an executive order will wipe them away. They will probably let them dump the waste anywhere. Probably give them a tax break if they dump where there is a high concentration of people with different genes. There are already companies investing in, and developing small scale reactors. Most nuclear waste gets stored onsite at the power plant facility. A few countries do deep geological disposal. I’m not aware of any countries that allow nuclear waste to be dumped just anywhere, nor near high concentrations of people. Perhaps, you live near The Simpson’s, in Springfield, where they dump the nuclear waste into the lake.

I hope you are right. I doubt it but, I still hope.
