I guess I’ve joined the not-very-exclusive Gibson club.

Not too bad. I’ll clean it up and restring it this afternoon.

I do too, but I realized that having it on there makes it a little more consistent with my Strat in terms of pick hand feel. I don't really anchor on the front of the guitar but I do like to feel where the guitar is and having the pickguard on actually makes it easier for me to switch between the guitars, Lame, but it's working for me.

Whatever works. I use the pickguard on my LP for orientation by resting my fingertips on it. To me it's a weird floating sort of feeling without it.

When I bought the guitar, the price tag was on a sticker on the pickguard, and I ruined the pickguard when I tried to remove the sticker. Then I ordered another pickguard that came in the wrong color, but I kept it because I liked the look of a black pickguard on a black LP. It's there but in a subtle Custom sort of way.
