Give me something to watch on Netflix

Stranger Things series 5 was so much better than 3 or 4. I enjoyed it immensely. Also the brothers that created the thing have apparently said it's over now but with the (kind of) open ending I bet there's something weird going on in Hawkins in around 10 to 15 years.

It wasn't the worst thing I watched on Saturday, but it was up there :embarrassed:

Just finished Waterfront. It was OK, but I did waver on bailing on it about halfway through. The plot feels like the results of feeding the scripts of Dallas, Ozark, Yellowstone, and Animal Kingdom into an AI engine. Pretty much every scene feels like something from one of those shows.

Topher Grace does do a great job of playing a whacko drug dealer.

Spartacus: House of Ashur is rising cock and moistening thigh. Remove cock from arse, put mind to purpose, and see fucking spectacle unmatched!
Binged the first several episodes last night. Tons of fun!

I’m finally watching season 4 of Stranger Things. I’m surprised that it’s actually pretty good.

I thought the 1st season was well done. My wife liked it. I played D&D during my high school years. The wife and I were both older teens at the beginning of the 80’s. Those things helped to make the show relatable.

Season 2 was basically a rehash of season 1 with more characters, but less of the elements that made the 1st season so good. We still enjoyed 2, but less than S1.

The Duffer Brothers got lost in season 3. They forgot most of what made the show work and it seemed like they’d run out of ideas. They veered hard into illogical and stupid. It reminded me of other shows that started out good, but shit the bed, Westworld, for example, which had a great 1st season and got progressively worse each season that followed. My wife abandoned ship after S3, so I did not bother getting through season 4, until now.

I’ve heard some good things about season 5. I’ll give it a go once I’ve finished S4. I’m not expecting it to be flawless. It simply needs to be entertaining.

I'm a few episodes into Pluribus, and I love it. They have a knack for combining a couple of truly terrifying themes with a lot of droll humor.

In general, I've been really impressed with Apple TV's genre offerings. I've watched See, Dark Matter, Silo, Severance, Invasion, and Murderbot, and thought they were pretty amazing, with some very original takes on common sci-fi/fantasy themes.

Finally finished Starnger Things. I thought it was a good ending. It was an added bonus that they dropped the episodes while my son was home on break so we could watch it as a family.
Anyone else watch The Chair Company? We're two episodes in, and it's batshit crazy, kind of annoying, and moderately entertaining. Should I bother to keep watching?

I've been watching it. I'm a fan of Tim Robinson's style of humor. I got a taste for it watching the comedy series, "I Think You Should Leave." Also, the movie, "Friendship," had a similar kind of humor. It's absurd, ackward and cringe. Yet, I suppose it's not for everyone. Not all of it lands funny for me, but plenty of it does.

Sentiment shared.:thu:

I am absolutely loving it. Obviously the sex and violence are off the charts (is it the most graphically violent TV show ever?), but I think my favorite thing is the epic shit-talking they do to each other. Every conversation between the Romans is almost like a rap battle. Plus whenever Nick Tarabay rolls his eyes it cracks me up, he must be having so much fun. It's wild how I'm rooting for an absolute scumbag like Ashur. I really like the Doctore too.

Vince Giliagan and Rhea Seahorn teaming up again is enough to hook me in from the get go.
