I got a tear in my eye reading this.Saw a bit of Blue Oyster Cult the other day at the big amphitheater.
Invited a dear friend to go. I told him I wanted to see BOC most of all. THEY WERE OPENING were opening for a popular Pink Floyd tribute band.
Right? A band that years ago co-headlined with Black Fucking Sabbath!I got a tear in my eye reading this.
I was not a happy tear.
@Flamencology would drop the 'fucking', as Dio was their singer at the time. No offense to any tribute band, but Blue Oyster Cult is one of my favorite bands. They deserve better. But business is business. Anyhow, I doubt they care.Right? A band that years ago co-headlined with Black Fucking Sabbath!
Oasis were incredible. Even scouting around outside for a drink and a piss before it was electric.
Go on! Spill the deets!
I'm going to give this a good read after I finish translating it.Was just a brilliant day out. I was going to drive but my wife seen a girl on a local FB group with some space on a minivan from a local pub so I ended up going through with 7 total randoms. Bevvy gets flowing and the 2 couples that know each other start having an argument before we've got on the motorway. No one can work out the cars Bluetooth so the girls just yell oasis tunes for the best part of the journey.
Dumped them pronto when we got to Edinburgh. The place was buzzing good vibes but the odd nutter roaming around to keep things interesting. Pubs and offies were queued round the block but a couple of decent folk gave me a couple of tins. Lukewarm of course. Quick piss behind a bin shed then into the stadium
Queues were shocking for entry and the bars even early so I've no idea what it would've been like closer to oasis coming on.
Got myself 4 beers and set up shop for the night. Really good seat and no knobheads around us apart from 1 bird who I told to stop acting like a dick. Not 100% sure but there's a photo of Noel's daughter in the news today at the gig and it looks A LOT like her. Same clothes and everything but I dunno why she'd be up with the plebs.
Cast were great supporting wish they'd played longer. Richard Ashcroft was disappointing tbh. Can't really put my finger on it he was just nowhere near as good as I was expecting.
Oasis came on and it was 2ish hours of greatness. No flat parts, crowd we're going ballistic all the way through. It even felt polished which having seen them a handful of times before is not how I'd describe oasis. They always were great live and considering they could have coasted this entire tour and folk would still have lapped it up, they didn't.
Picked an extra random up for the car home. Guy who "didn't really like oasis but his pals were all going so he tagged along" spent the journey telling me how much he loved his kid in between doing copious keys of coke.
One of the other guys got into an argument with him. Not sure what about, but his mad wife had done a role reversal, became the voice of reason and calmed them all down. Guy went back to his coke.
Dropped off and fell asleep on the couch.
All in a fantastic day out with just the right amount of madness to give it a bit of edge.

Great write-up! That sounds like the full Oasis gig experience (minus a brotherly falling out). I'm glad there were a couple of decent skins that shared their cans. A cokehead father-of-the-year yammering on about loving his kid seems very appropriate of the sort of person I'd expect to find at the Oasis reunion concert. 2 hours is a good length of set as well. Sounds like a great gig!
Not sure if you need FB to view it but just seen this clip pop up. Absolute scenes
